During the first months of the Darkening, a monastic order of Lathanderite devouts began a brazen crusade of vengeance in the name of their beloved fallen deity. They marched deep beneath the earth - a strikeforce of men and women with nothing left to lose; their souls composed only of an anguished, mournful thirst for retribution. Thoroughly embracing the nature of their suicidal mission, they stormed the Lowerdark in a last-ditch effort to slay the great Elder Brains and save the world from the black apocalypse.

They did not succeed - but nor did they die. They changed.

Now they emerge, pale-faced, white-eyed, tortured by the madness and unimaginable horror they have born witness to - broken and twisted mockeries of their former selves.

Having seen the terrifying, insurmountable truth of their foe, they seek to bring to Man the only true mercy in a world doomed to lightless oblivion.

Recommended Race: Human
Recommended Class: All - including fallen paladins, though you'll likely need to app for an alignment shift.


This group will primarily revolve around a concept of twisted chivalry. I've always liked the idea of bastardised evil mockeries of Arthurian heroes - these characters will be nihilistic, insane knights believing they are doing Mankind a kindness by eradicating them from existence rather than let them meet their fate as a slave race to a cosmos-spanning Illithid empire - which is what they have seen in their nightmarish, fevered horrorscape beneath the earth.
