Hey, im still a new player, so i apologize if anything im doing with this post is wrong.

Anyway, i was wondering how the diseases lycanthropy and vampirism, if they are diseases, work?

Relinquish

You have to apply to play lycans, and being bitten by them doesn't instantly make you a lycan. AFAIK vampires are near impossible to have a successful app for.

Vampirism and Lycanthropy

No, i mean literally, how do the diseases work in an rp fashion. Like, with a vampire, what are the symptoms of the disease/curse, and wat is the appearance/behavior of the new vampire? Are they like a Dracula type thing? Or a more bestial creature? And the same for a werewolf. Can they control their phasing? Etc.

I have encountered both vampires and lycans in Efu, and these diseases have never been prevalent or noted before. Which leads me to believe we don't use them?

Snoteye

We don't use them. As for lycanthropes, bar a few special requests we're talking about natural lycanthropes, meaning they have complete control of their shifting.

Sedarine

Just do a little search!

In a nutshell, vampires in D&D are usually the standard "I got bit, now I am one type". Cures are not impossible, but beyond the ability of most PCs and possibly most of the NPCs (don't quote me on that!)...and like the old myths, some of these "cures" are fatal!

Lycanthropy is caught or you are born with it. Caught it can be cured at first...later, it gets tougher and a higher level cure is needed.

Though not impossible, to cure a born Lycan is likely beyond anyones means in EFU unless a special quest, cure or situation arose.

I know this is vague, but I hope it helps. We have some real D&D old schoolers here...pop into IRC and chat it up sometime maybe!

I'm not sure how does it work on D&D, but in Bram Stoker's Dracula...

Well the diease doesn't start instantly, you don't become a vampire after being bitten, you actually need to die before that happens. After being bitten though a person would become pale and i'm uncertian if his/her teeth would become fangs, although it's posible. Also the aflicted one would probably begin desiring blood, even if he/she doesn't realize it. Also, the bitten person would be cursed, even if not undead a holy symbol would burn.

Of cource, Dracula's vampires can also shrink in size or become as big as they want, become mist, bats, rats or a giant wolf, control any of the creatures i mentioned, assume the image of anyone they desired at will, crate a state of panic or charm in any person and would be able to walk in daylight with no problem, just simply weakened and powerless, but be forced to rest in a coffin filled with earth from their homeland to regain their strenght.

I belive none of this applies to D&D, so probably the sympthoms i described will be no use. Still they might help you RP it.
