Urist Shaleheart awoke with sand in his mouth, and every other crevice you can imagine (best not to imagine too much). Looking around the shore, ships are seen to line the coast and the sound of workers fills the air. Where are his mates, his ship, his weapons? Time to explore this new situation and learn what can be done to find new equipment.

There is no home, not after that terrible incident, but this new place would serve as home for now. If only he could find his mates, to know they are with him at his side would be the only comfort he needs. Best head into town and see who else may have landed on the shore.

Urist has arrived on Ypmh, an island colony and soon learns he is stranded here, no easy way to leave. He quickly finds some equipment, a rusty chain shirt and battered longsword and sets about making some coin for a badly needed drink. He ran some errands about the ziggurat, and got his citizen papers in line. With the small amount of coin he earned, he purchased some healing herbs and set about exploring.

He managed to defeat a colony of sand spiders on the beach while looking for his comrades and inside some abandoned chests, found some more equipment. Later after returning to the colony, he joined up with a band of adventurers and had the pleasure of dispatching a band of troglodytes who had infested a cave near the sea. It felt good to draw the blood of a foe after what he had been through.

He now returns to the ziggurat, and to the tavern to warm himself by the fire with a mug of what serves as the finest in this place. Not TOO bad after all. With his face half buried in the mug of froth, one eye is to the door, in hopes of seeing one of his lost comrades...

The Shalehearts are a clan of dwarves who have lost their clan homes and have joined together under a new clan name.

We might see a few straggling in over time, these are immigrants from the Bay12 forums, home of Dwarf Fortress: http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/

See you IG!

The Union of Clans is still around.

Garem

This sounds awesome! The Union is like a giant bear in hibernation, so don't count on it for anything-- but there's a lot of cool history and plottage with the dwarves on the server that such a group could delve into if they wished. Plus, dwarves are just WIN.

Definitely a cool concept group!

As the sun rose over the cliff side, a rag-clad form lay amidst surf and sand, clinging to a piece of shattered timber. This was Paulus Shaleheart, who groaned as he stirred, and slowly sat upright. His beard was short yet, as though only recently regrown, and his expression confused. He was, against all odds and expectations, alive.

He and his kin had been serving as mercenaries aboard a merchant vessel... a retinue of trained Dwarves was one of the better forms of insurance against pirates, you see... but they had run afoul of a great storm, and soon after it cleared found themselves drifting into a thick fog.

They hadn't drifted long, before the stillness was broken by a great shudder, and a splintering of timber; they had struck a spire of stone. Paulus, his companions, and many of the merchant crew, were thrown from the deck, and into the still-rough seas below. He did not remember wrapping his arms around the shattered timber which kept him afloat- indeed, by his recollection he should not have survived- but by some divine favor, or perhaps the Dwarf-Father's unfinished punishment, he was made to survive.

Up on the clifftops, he saw a series of stone towers, silhouetted in the rising sun. This island, it would seem, was inhabited, though he knew not by whom. Down on the shore, another figure lay in the sand, though his stature was not that of Paulus' brethren. Perhaps one of the merchants had survived the wreck?

Hefting the life-saving timber over his shoulder like a stout club, he approached the figure. Though he did not suspect that any of his kin had survived, any familiar face on this unfamiliar island would be welcome indeed.

Paulus met with the other shipwrecked sailor, Killian, and they traveled up the shore cliffs. They entered a settlement built upon a strange and ancient ruin, and learned something of the Nightrisers, and the crisis which plagued the island and its peoples. Meeting soon thereafter with the Captain of a local faction, who brought them in from the rain, they were briefed on some of the strife which also divided the people.

A Hearth-Oath bound you until death, so the elders would say... surely he had been spared from the mercy of painless death, only to continue penance for his betrayal of such an Oath, here in a fresh Hell.

Deon

Dust and sweat, ale and cinnamon. I love any smell that comes from a traveller. As long as he makes those tinkling sounds. *Tink*. *Tink*. *Tink*. This is a sound of golden coins in a vallet. And they plunk as they greet me.
My name is Deon. Deon Shaleheart. You shouldn't know more unless you want to be found under a pier. And you know what, I love good jokes. Tell me one, and maybe you'll leave this dark alley alive. With a Vergadain's blessing and an empty vallet
.

I came here with some pvp and roleplaying experience from other shards, but I know nothing about this one. In any case, I love NeverWinter Nights and I love good Roleplaying and trials. I hope we will get along.

Pup

Nice to have you back, Calavera.  And you brought friends!
"So what else is on your mind besides 100 proof women, 90 proof whisky, and 14 karat gold?"
"Amigo, you just wrote my epitaph."

"Maybe there's just one revolution.  The good guys against the bad guys.  The question is, who are the good guys?"

Go ahead and google it, #3 result is my thread on the bay12 forums. I am Ductape there.

Calavera

If you Google "Escaped from the Underdark" you get my thread on the Bay12 forums coming up #1, right above this actual forum.
