Assassin vines make the need of traveling with a guide tracker (ranger or druid) real. Which  is a good thing.

i don't think assassin vines produce fun encounters and think an alternative in completing their purpose of warding off invisible people or stealthers or whatever could be best accomplished with another sort of creature, preferably one that does not just appear and stun and kill you with no counter
