Concept:

This pc faction is made up of hardy yet highly supersticous men and women that hunt down sorcerers as they see them as tainted and inherently evil, they hold no love for magic of any kind aside from the divine.
The guardians believe that magic should be left in the hands of the gods, the only magic that should be used is the magic gifted to the gods clergy and to the druids, but even druids are seen as a little suspect but tolerated because of their dedication to the balance of nature.

History:

The Guardians  came from a land (fictional) far north of Vassa called Ornbaw, this land is bordered by mountains on all sides and the entire inhabitable part of Ornbaw is a large flat plateu sitting nestled about 11 miles above sea level, Ornbaw is a cold blizzardly place and the vast majority of towns are carved into the stone floor under the fairly thin layer of soil with large chimneys poking into the air. All the towns have community entrances into them as people live through out the year underground venturing above ground only through out the summer months to gather fire wood from the few large forests and to trade and celebrate with  other villages and with the dwarves That have carved their strongholds into the mountains ringing Ornbaw.

The dwarves that make their homes in Ornbaw act as guardians by defending the only entrances into Ornbaw which is through the upperdark, these dwarves are used to fighting against gray dwarves and drow that make their cities deep below.

 Ornbaw is a place that knows much strife and conflict and their fear and open hatred of magic and magical beings was caused mostly by the Spark Child War.

The Spark Child War.

Ornbawians have never had a close relationship with magic as the vast majority of their lives are spent preparing for the next winter which is always close at hand and as such never really had time to learn the arcane ways, however even though it was still an uncommon thing there were an average of one or two children born that had a natural penchent for sorcery, for the most part these children would grow up like normal children and there wouldn't be an issue. The children would tend to grow into well respected and revered leaders of the various towns within Ornbaw because they had no idea what they were capable of doing and merely thought that their latent abilities were useful for keeping the various children entertained through out the winter months, thus leaving plenty of time for the adults to get their work done without interference.

None of the townsfolk were known for their ambition and neither were any of the children simply because life was hard in Ornbaw. One summer at an unrecorded time a few generations passed, a group of very oddly dressed individuals appeared at the Ornbaw trade meet celebrations and began to perform many magical tricks for the enjoyment of everyone there, the various elders with latent abilities were enthralled to see all these new tricks that these newcomers could perform, like making balls of fire and magical blades that were usefull at speeding up the felling of trees amongst many other abilities. The elders embarresed by their lack of ability and not being able to do anything other than making simple illusions and the like for the entertainment of the children decided that it would be a good idea to apprentice all the children with tallent to these newcomers so that they could become an even greater asset to the community other than just as child carers.

The sorcerers readily agreed to train what they coined as "The Spark Children" and the various towns all chipped together along with many of the dwarves to make a small tower in the middle of the Tree Free Plains, 15 miles to the north east of the center of Ornbaw. Here the Spark children grew under the tutalage of the sorcerers untill they graduated at age 17 and would go back to their towns and be of great help
