Using up Food to Rest in the Wilderness

Though I'm kind of on the fence on this one, and have little experience with it IG, I'd like to see if it works out. I DO really appreciate the idea that Wilderness Survival can allow you to 'find' food and thus not needing to have purchased some.

As an added note -
 
Having to carry a bit of food results in needing to do a bit more careful inventory evaluation, and has a nice bit of extra benefit for those characters who like to "travel light", as one would probably want to do in the wilderness.  If you're loaded up with potions, armor, weapons, etc. and can't spare a couple extra pounds for food for your group, make a tough decision!

It's interesting. Can't speak for or against the system, and I know this post isn't exactly a suggestion as much as it is commentary input, but there are some really cool foods out there. I like the idea of sitting around in a dark cave huddled up close to a fire for protection from the unknown monsters lurking in the dark while chowing down on a bowl of Zombie Salad. Getting all set with your potential last meal to brave the lightless caverns and try to find your way back to 'safety'.
