Make the library quest easier for new players

Just had the thought that it might be a good idea to make the library quest easier for the sake of new players. It has a lot of clues, hints and outright lore to introduce new players to the server. While it wasn't too difficult for me to do alone, I imagine newer players would likely not have as easy a time (or at least squishier PC's would not).

And because of there being a lot of "Extra" monsters to kill to see all the lore, it seems unlikely that a lot of newer players will continue exploring it after getting the initial completion earlier in the quest.

Mass Transit

It already has infinite free healing, but due to camera angles it goes unnoticed often.

That's news to me.

I don't know if I count as a 'new player' technically but I found it pretty easy, even soloing with extremely gimp characters without knowing what the hell I was doing.

That said I'm a bit confused as to why this exhibit is limited to being a quest. It's probably the best area in the module that I've seen so far and I would prefer if I could access it at any time. While I appreciate that it works very well as a quest and should remain so, I think it wouldn't hurt if the content was made constantly accessible maybe by putting a smaller replica on another non-quest floor, or at least a terminal that contains all of the projections from the entire QA in one, available publicly (maybe this is already there and I've just missed it?)

Because, as a "new player" the first couple of times I did this quest I completely missed the lore as I was distracted by the fact that I was trying not to die. Also I was conscious of the fact that hanging around to look at the lore holds up the quest for others.

RuinedDesires

Only got round to do this quest once, and sadly my party wanted to rush through rather than watch every part of it. Could the difficulty be increased, and the level limit be moved to 5. It would increase the access to the quest, since few pcs linger at level 4 for long.

I've never seen the healing either!

Lado hit it on the head. Plus, using magic REALLY helps and at that level it fades crazy quick.

Yet, I see a glaring reason for the lore there being inaccessible. Maybe just make it part 2 of the quest? Or somehow end the quest, but players may return to it via special drop key?

Ladocicea

I'm not sure the drop key idea would work because it's still a QA and you can't have people not on the quest running around a QA.

QAs generally need to just be isolated areas. This is why I say the content should be replicated or made accessible elsewhere, rather than the area itself being made accessible.

Also I'm not in favour of moving the level cap up as that just pushes the problem away one step and may result in unintended balance issues. I feel the content is important (as a reference tool, as an RP tool, and so on) and cool enough that it ought to be available to anyone of any level.

If it's too tough solo, don't do it solo. I believe it allows up to 4 players in the party. While I appreciate the quest being solo-able, the setting generally pushes towards finding allies/friends. If it becomes too difficult for your character to handle on their own, there is no shame in backing out and seeking assistance.

That said, I don't think the quest is -that- difficult. The 50% concealment on mobs is annoying but their damage is low even if their numbers are a bit on the high side per "swarm."

Edit: I'm wholly in favor in making the lore contained in the quest available outside of the quest. It's extremely well done and does a solid job of giving an overview of the back story of the current chapter.

Abandoned-1

I think the quest is fine, solo or with team mates. My character isn't exactly designed as a proper fighter. I have literally used the fighter class just so that I could have an unremarkable peasant that's just learning things about fighting. My only concern is that when he was taking a beating, it left me zero time to stop and look at the exhibits.

Knight Of Pentacles

Lol, it can be completed quite easily.  The lore is another matter.

A DM has put very considerable effort in fine tuning the balance of this quest already. In its current form it can be somewhat challenging, but certainly not overly so, as those above have pointed out.

As for the lore, I can definitely agree, and wouldn't mind seeing it be more accessible. I wonder who can do this in a reasonable and flavorful manner? There might even be a reward, maybe.
