Notice of Upcoming Event

The old man had been running for a long time.

His beard whipped behind him, his gnarled feet pounded the ground, his skinny legs were a blur as he sped along faster than any horse.

Through more than a thousand realms he had raced. A thousand times he had whispered old words to crack open hidden doorways and purple-blue rifts or yellow, flickering portals. He had jumped wildly through each one, hoping with each that this long race would at last be done.

He had run so far and so fast because he was being hunted.

For a year or more he had been hunted; matchless traveler followed by unstoppable predator.

In whatever queer realm of purple radiance or croaking frogs he ventured into; it had come. Through every puzzle, every door, every labyrinth it had followed.

Like any shadow, it could grow or diminish its size according to present needs. But always she took the form of a great serpent with eyes that burned purple-cold, hungry yet patient.

She knew that she would catch her pray soon. The old man had been clever to try running rather than fighting, and in doing so had long delayed her terrible work.

But it would not be much longer now. Very soon, she was sure, she would catch at last this flighty prey.

For even a god can't run from her forever.

Dear Players, here is a brief announcement to inform you that the long simmering conflict between the The Brotherhood of the Ascension, the Dwellers in Darkness, and the Cult of the Ooze will soon be reaching its final conclusion. The final event will take place either this coming weekend or the next with exact timing to be determined largely according to active player and DM availability.

If you are currently playing a member of any of these three Cults, please make yourself known to myself or another DM. If there's any final things you'd like to attempt, you only have a limited amount of time to do it.

If you have always wanted to make a member of any of the three Cults, the upcoming days may be your final opportunity to do so.

During the final event, please be advised that we will close the server to all characters that are un-involved. Only Cult Members or maybe close allies will be permitted IG.

HOWEVER, as part of the event, there will be an opportunity for any player to make a temporary NPC'esque character to join either of the three sides. We will give your character some basic equipment and level it up to 4-7 (the exact level being determined according to total numbers on each size as well as other factors).

We have kept careful records of the accomplishments of each Cult (including gold donations, sacrifices, work to persuade NPCs or achieve prestige, DM quest accomplishments, etc.) and all of this will play a major role in the final conclusion of whatever happens. If you're concerned something your past character may have done to bring a Cult to prominence may have been overlooked, please feel free to get in touch.

Whatever the result ends up being should be... interesting.

Please note that currently retired past cult-members (even if they never died) should not make a return for this.

Involved PCs should belong to one of the following categories:

- Currently & actively played Cult member PCs
- Their close allies assuming DM permission is received
- Any new Cult member PC made from now until to the event
- The temporary alt that will be made the day of and will be retired afterwards (intended to be portrayed almost like NPCs)

Let's try for 5:00 PM UTC Saturday September 17th. Some flexibility before or after would be good.

Players may begin making their side/alternate/NPC'esque/red shirt characters for this event.

Please fully equip yourself in the starting area, however bear in mind that you may choose magic version of AC 0 tunic/robes or AC 3 leathers in the Team Rooms.

Take the prelude arrow to get to the Team Rooms, and wait in the Team Room of your respective side. Collect one item each from the barrels in your team room, but don't take the last one - if the barrel is almost empty, alert a DM to make more copies.

Even if your character will be finished after this event, I would urge you to come up with a fun and flavorful concept.

The Brotherhood of Ooze was victorious.

There will be a rumor post shortly to reflect what happened.

Although Lower will be shown correctly IG as flooded and somewhat devastated, we need a little time to more accurately show what exactly has happened there. For example, some interior areas or the Sewers are not quite accurate IG as to how they should be. Just be a little patient with us to catch up in the toolset.

All three cults are now closed for new members. But something new will surely rise in time....
