So having tried out some more dying, due to unforeseen circumstances involving low level monsters and my own incompetence, I came across this little beauty in the fugue:

QuoteAlthough we believe that failure will only make moments of later success all the more satisfyingly, perhaps experiencing the trials and tribulations of EFU could be be a lesson for your own life. If you cant remain equanimous and balanced about the loss of a video game character, how will you react when you face serious problems in the real world?

I think I can see what you are getting at here, but this reads as a bit judgemental to me. Based on my own personal experience, I do not believe there is any correlation between reactions to real world problems, and computer game problems. But, even if you thought there was, is this the best time to make such an argument? You seem to be saying to people who are emotional because a character died - "oh, and by the way, this means you cannot manage at real life either". This seems like a bit of rude thing to say to someone when they might be upset to start with!

Personally I think players being upset when a character dies is a clear demonstration that the EfU is doing it's job properly. Good art creates an emotional response in the participants. The fact that people are upset when a character dies shows they had invested sufficiently in an excellent, immersive game capable of creating such an emotional response. I think emotional responses to character death is something EfU should be proud of, not scornful.

Fair point to make. Thanks for the suggestion. I'd like to give my opinion at the same time, and it indeed is my personal opinion. Nobody has to take it more in their heart than they choose to. One does not even have to read anything around there, just step away and fume for few minutes. Hit a sack couple times, or what ever it is one needs. I am sure everyone has their way for it. Back to the point, I would also argue that as it does invoke emotional response, it's worth considering always. May not always be easy to take in during moments of frustration but it does get the thought in there and it'll brew for a while.

But if it unduly feels uncomfortable for many, it likely could be removed too. We will see.

As last notice, I removed couple posts above. If you don't got anything smart to contribute to the suggestions or reports of others, don't post anything. You know who you are.

I agree with Scrappa. Whilst I understand with the sentiment, it could be better phrased to get its point across, without being mildly insulting to people who might be upset that they've lost a character or ended a story they've grown attached to over weeks and months.
