Hanson,

I ask you to look to my actions and my own words. I have stood for you, in the war against the orc, in the Well against the Tormented, in the bottle against Others.

I just ask that you stand for me in kind.

Will you come to Hufaidh with me and face this threat?

Yours faithfully,
Aurelio d'Lyon

Aurelio,

I will be candid. I cannot sanction the Legion's commitment to your expedition. Given our shared experiences, I trust you will understand why.

This command I've been granted has been as much a burden as a blessing, and I do not bear it lightly. We've fought together on many occasions—it's true. And even now, I will not deny the temptation to act without reserve. But I am now responsible for more than just my own life. That reality, combined with recent consequences, makes the cost of this expedition too high a price to pay. There are myriad other reasons as well, which I believe you already know. I'll waste neither the ink nor your time discussing them. Simplicity is an ally of truth, and the truth is as I have stated.

Our place is upon the walls of the Citadel, and to abandon them would leave our home exposed. It would be a dereliction of duty, and a mistake I do not intend to repeat. I'll do my best to remain at the Garrison should you need a word. I'll make the time if need be.

Respectfully,
Hanson Gilbracht
