I spent a lot of time in that place thinking, worrying, and being afraid. There were times that I felt I were on the verge of breaking. It would have been a simple thing - words uttered, promises made, a painless escape.

But every time I felt it was truly over, and my mouth might start to mumble promise to djinn in defeat, I'd look upon Buster... So haggard, so worn down, but still standing. I'd look at him and I'd also remember a harsh lesson taught to me by one of the bravest men I've ever met. The true meaning of loyalty, and the price one must pay when that wavers.

We made it out. Your sister too - she's strong, but I figure you know that already. We're going to be okay I think, once the wounds scar over and the horrors get buried beneath toasts to life and cheer amongst chums and the new cack surfaces to keep us busy.

In our last talk you told me to try and build something. Seemed to actually believe I'm one of the few who could. Day after day in the ash that takes and takes and takes I struggle to see the point... but the fact that you saw something in a nobody like me gives me the strength to at least try.
