Elections are on again (!) and it's time this political group got a thread of its own, I think. With the removal of Naerfaine and the "anybody's game" feeling that seems to abound going into these elections it's a great time to get involved and to use this time of upheaval to efficate change on the server, aligning your individual character goals with the goals of the broader movement.

The Red Guild is most interesting to me personally because of the vast potential for foreign policy-related plots and endeavors that may one day even culminate in actual and effective war against the Dread, a goal of no small number of characters I'm sure. Beyond that, though, there's room for all sorts:

- scheming and shady merchants who want to use a political career as leverage in future business transactions to accrue as much wealth as possible, building contacts and a network of supporters and allies
- corruption-busting crusaders who want to go against what they perceive as abuses from the hierarchy of the Watchers and are looking for a position from which to safely challenge them
- skilled strategists looking to try their hand at the arduous task of planning a vast and seemingly unwinnable war against the Dread, ensuring that each domino falls into place
- warriors and mercenaries who are seeking high-paying work as bodyguards, hired thugs, or private militiamen embarking on such tasks as fighting Lowersmen for the Canal Ward
- ambassadors and diplomats who wish to ply their trade with some of the most paranoid, suspicious, treacherous, and hostile peoples on Toril: drow, duergar, svirfneblin, and worse.
- Ordinants who want to follow in their founder's footsteps and preserve the rights and privileges of the Society of the Ordered Mind and use the political process to obtain more powers with which to further their cause and crusade
- machinists who may have simultaneous interest in the elite Reformed Order of the Spellguard, pursuing projects within the massive Machine of Dunwarren to develop and understand a potent and perhaps even decisive weapon against the Dread

The possibilities are limitless, and ultimately, the Guild is open enough that you can spin it into a vehicle for pursuing whatever particular endeavor interests you. Show some ambition, take a stand for PROGRESS, it will be rewarded!

We have an IRC channel that has as of yet been mostly unused, feel free to hop on by or send me a PM if you're looking to get involved: #redguild

I humbly accept your nomination.

Good post, but all this stuff should remain IC. It's half the point of the guilds existing.
