My suggestion is for some potions to do their intended duty, but also contain silly, and sometimes dangerous side-effects. Maybe not all the time, but often enough. Some of them could be permanent, and some could be temporary.

Feel free to add to this list.

I'm really not eager for mirroring what happened in EFU:M with withered potions, especially for the sake of silly effects.

NecronomiconV

i rather liked the withering potions, and a few side-effects wouldn't hurt if their minor and silly, nothing serious i'd suggest as some people will seek these things out intentionally just for the chance of something permanent to make them odd.

Bearic

Would make potion drinking a bit more interesting, but might also empower mages, and characters not reliant on potions.

However, I personally really like polymorph potions, or even just cheap potions that don't do what they're supposed to do. Like a random merchant that sells "miracle tonics" at low, low, prices. So you think, hey I'm getting a speed potion for dirt cheap, but it does nothing, or only expeditious retreat.

We have watered down ale, so it would only make sense you could buy watered down magical drinks that only work to a fraction of their power, or half of the time.

I support the possiblity of snake oil con artists, and potion addicts.

Pentaxius

The point raised by Beric would be interesting.
- give potion brewers the possibility to "water down" their product, and create it more cheaply. The product has a % to fail that is unknown and hard to estimate. It would lead to some interesting swindling RP that goes beyond the well established "potion pricing" we've had since the dawn of NWN.

The terrible side effect of this would be that said potions couldn't be stacked, nor homogenized. It would need to come in a class of its own.

Maybe give an option to name potions during creation? Who knows if it's actually a poison.

If you can name potions, It would get rather swiftly lost as soon as someone uses the Homogeniser.
