New Cleric PRC

I was thinking it would be pretty cool if there was a cleric PRC (similar perhaps to how bloodmage is applied) for clerics with patrons who do not grant divine spells.  Instead, you could somehow (unsure the scripting I leave that to the great DMs) take items with divine power / divine scrolls / relics / steal from a living (subdued) cleric who can cast spells / etc.. Such items would be destroyed allowing them to steal the divine essence stored inside.  Then use this to reduce your spell failure and allow you to cast minor divine spells or maybe limited divine spells (like a point system similar to summons) for a time.

It just seemed like an interesting idea and might be neat seeing clerics battle clerics to take some their divine power from living Gods.

This sounds like something akin to a divine mimic sorcerer, which I am wholeheartedly in support of. I could totally see evil clerics sucking the divine essence off of other priests to fill the void inside them.

A pali of dead gods get the feat bonus, something that would make playing a cleric of a dead god mechanically feasible would put a good spin on one of the most dramatic parts of this chapter.

--Maybe the system that mimics take magic from potions could be used instead for divine scrolls.

I was actually thinking about this sort of thing as a concept at one point. This could be a cool PRC but I would rather have it simply grant darker clerics (not just evil but good too) spells through a divine sacrifice. A name for this going along Prophet or Scion of said deity. The class would need to be made as an archtype offering a few special abilities independent of the cleric's deity.

In the end, it is about simply choosing to give the cleric spells or lose spell failure.

While Clerics of dead gods certainly add to the server in terms of atmosphere, what seems described above mimics more what a sorcerer would to. Furthermore, it is already practiced by Clerics of (alive) evil deity.

What would make more sense, to me, would be to have deceitful deities/abominable extra-dimensional entities trick the cleric into believing that his God is alive, by seemingly responding to his prayers, while slowly eroding the mind of the PC and twisting the fallen deity's ethos.

This would require an app, but does not necessitate any additional scripting. Perks and PRC-like stuff, such as summoning themes and the like, will certainly follow for those who rock their socks off :-)

I fail to see how this is like a sorcerer.  It was merely a suggestion for a PRC for dead gods.  If they like it and want to add it, that would be awesome!  If not no big deal really.

dont take it too seriously people dont agree with you lado

Not being able to cast spells and having the ability to destroy items(potions) to allow spell casting is basically half of what a mimic does. It's my way of looking at what exists and seeing how it can be adapted and changed instead of building something entirely from scratch, which (and excuse my gross interpretation) a destroy items to point gain and pay for individual casts or to avert spell fail seems to be.

I do think something like this in any interpretation is lacking from the religious aspect of the server. Otherwise there is no reason to play a dead god cleric save for strictly roleplay.

Whatever works is what works, I was giving my perspective.

My suggestion in full would be:

Dead god clerics gain the mimics copy potion ability but only usable on divine scrolls.
and
a player tool that when used on a subdued cleric removes your spell fail and grants it to them until reset.
