So yeah. After maybe... 3+ months of Elody Kross. I have decided to retire him. This is due to a number of reasons.

[LIST=1]
  • I had to do my exams which took roughly 2 months. Which was a long time to be away for me from a Paladin PC. In my opinion too long and I lost the love for him. He was fun to play but after coming back, it felt a tad stressful to get back into the rhythm of him. Time is still rather constraint for me as well. I feel Paladins need alot of devotion and time to successfully play.
  • Personally, I struggled with playing a Paladin Red Knight. Due to the Dogma to be lacking uniqueness, and due to how little information is out there on a Red Knight Paladin. He did grow into something spectacular and there seemed to be a surge of Red Knight PCs after Elody Kross. I like to think it was because of him.
  • None-the-less he was a BLAST to play, from joining the Society, to fighting with Schwarz within the confines of the law.

Personally I feel Elody was a tad bit unsuccessful since he did not get to play to his end and was lacking in "Paladin-ness" as I saw in other Paladin players... He was also built fairly weirdly which I felt did not best represent him such as greatsword wielding, when Red Knights favored weapons were longswords etc. I had actually a plan out for him which would bring about a satisfying conclusion but felt it would take too long for it to conclude and hold interest for me.

He had already been betrayed by many of Upper Sanctuary, losing his comrades, and being backstabbed by Spellguard folk repeatedly. Eventually he became worst for wear, losing faith in Right and Wrong. Believing that being fair was a false course in life.
This was mean't to eventually spiral into falling via some act too beyond a "grey" area to be considered good anymore. Eventually he would pursuit power to help end the war with the dread via "forces" of the Lowerdark.

Though some of the best highlights being bringing Harold Worchester to justice imo.

All in All. Elody Kross fades into the background of the Society doing Paperwork or maybe just somewhere in the god district preaching to a god.

I will be moving on to my new PC Zaltarish!

I'll upload Pics of his stats/DM lootz soon. :)

That sword... And Elody was a great comrade in the society, sorry to see him go but I know you will come up with something even better.

Torrick will make sure Elody gets a proper burial. What do you mean he isn't really dead. Looks dead to me! Where'd his sword go? Not behind my back, that's for sure. Weird!

Really, though, Elody was a fun character to RP with. He'll be missed, and I'll be looking out for Zaltarish. o7

All these PCs retiring makes me go to frown town :(.

Good luck and have fun on your next!

He became a really interesting character. To see the burdens of being a paladin weight on his shoulders and slowly change him was something that always had me crave for more interactions with Elody, simply for the sake of seeing what would have happened.
