Any other LOTRO dabblers out there? Lovely piece of underappreciated art, this game. Great for facilitating RP too, but sadly low on population.

That looks pretty kickass!

I haven't played this game since... probably beta. How is the free to play aspect of it? I've been considering jumping back in for some time but that's what always gives me pause. Is it super restrictive?

No. All paid services are either time-saving or cosmetic. For example - bonus XP, quicker crafting skill upgrade rates, fast travel, quicker mounts or clothing. You can level up to about 50 before you need to purchase expansions.

You usually end up cashing in because it provides some nifty, nice stuff whilst also giving you plenty to play with in free mode. Game -looks- absolutely gorgeous and is immersive beyond belief. They even have birds migrating in the sky and painted skyboxes. Cosmetic outfit systems and clothing dyes like NWN.

I'd recommend playing Laurelin EU, because the American RP server (Landroval) is unofficial and has no naming policies or restrictions to facilitate RP environments.
