Currently, snakes are immune to sneak attacks.

I can't see why they would be if all other animals and vermin are susceptable to them.

My suggestion would be to remove the sneak attack immunity from snakes.

Sneak attack is knowing where your enemies are weak hitting those weak spots. Snake anatomy is such that they don't really have the weak spots other vermin do. They aren't as vulnerable as a result, meaning immunity to sneak attack.

SLIM

Seconded... I don't believe they should be immune. I could see where they might be hard to sneak up on, but immune... Perhaps remove the immunity but increase their spot and listen a bit? (Maybe all snakes can get a free alertness, if they dont already have it.)

And a snakes weak spot is it's neck ffs (which is about half as long as they are).

Barehander

Soft belly as opposed to the kevlar scales they must have, obviously.

I can see why it would be so for variety, but it doesn't really make IC sense.

Snakes have weak points, I mean you all see the TV shows when they grab their tails or grab them at the neck.  Also if a snake is striking or attacking I would guess it's softer underside would be exposed.  I really don't see why they are IMMUNE.

Ackley

You're thinking of dragons and other such things. Snakes don't have softer undersides, their skin and scales are fairly consistent. The reason people go for their 'necks' is because it stops them from making a biting/lunging motion, rendering them harmless. If you grab it by the tail end, it is just going to turn and bite you so it is pretty stupid to do so without having a firm grasp on the head end.

If you stab a snake anywhere but the head, it will do about as much damage as any other spot on their body except for their head. They have no real weak spots where a single strike would be devastating, except for their heads. It makes perfect IC sense, if you understand snake anatomy.

Portal Rat

It's pretty easy to sneak up on a snake, TBH.

SLIM

Just some fun stuff...
Red touch black
friend to Jack
Red touch yellow
KILL a fellow!

Snakes are snakes... King cobra by the tail...

I am fairly sure snakes have the same organs most living things have, like lungs and a heart.

..and why the heck can't a snake be animal empathied. I mean on TV any fool with a flute can charm a damn snake.  If it is on TV it must be real!

I remember hearing somewhere that snakes can't be animal emphathied because they're set as reptiles (so that they can be turned by clerics with the appropriate domains) instead of animals. Or something like that.

Normal snakes, yes. But remember these are monstrous super snakes with adamantine scales and the endurance of a bull, or whatever.

My point is, however: they have organs, they are living beings. Hence, they should be sneakable.

The reason things like Undead and Constructs are Crit/Sneak immune is because it doesn't matter where you hit them. You can cut off their head or pierce their eye, and they won't be any more affected than if you'd chip off a toe. Animals, obviously, have vital parts that keep them alive.

FYI the flute is for the show, the snake is "charmed" by slow mouvement of whatever you have in hand.

Don't try it at home, kids.

As for the OP i've no opinion on the matter, mainly because i'm not a big fan of sneak attack ;)

RagingPurpleGiant

We rogues need our sneak attack or we get pumbled to death by every mean twelve year old with a stick.
