So Ymph is a warm tropical Island where it rains alot.  Hence I propose the Monster MOSQUITO SWARM to add variety or replace the Hornet Swarms typically found here. The only real difference would be MOSQUITO SWARM would have the WOUNDING ability to represent the damage done by relentlessly itching after said damage is inflicted.  Some varieties of MOSQUITOES could also carry/inflict DISEASE on hit.  Major change?  (Probably)Not so much. Awesome for the setting? I think so! :)

Rot Mosquitos. No bleeding, but definitely damage onhit.

I would be for adding anything that reduces your chance to encounter the party destroying monsters currently roaming the bogs.

IMO, a swarm with 50% concealment, large dmg immunity and Vampiric Regen. Not deadly, but annoying as hell.
*swat* Why can't I KILL these damn things!

The Players are actively asking to be annoyed... I see in the future complaints, bitching, frustration, and player and dm burn out... adding things to annoy players great idea, in turn the DMs will become annoyed with players.

Actually there should be no way a fighter with a sword would be able to kill them, really, even if you swing it and kill, say 3 mosquitoes, there's like 96 of them.

I say re-do all the swarm enemies to give them 100% inmunity to all phisical damage, but like 1 HP. A fighter with a sword can't kill them, but they can easly be taken care with with an acid flask, alchemist fire or one of the cantrip gloves found on low quests.

If given low AB and 1 max damage, they become an enviormental hinderance, as they should.

Also make AE to make them not to attack PCs.

While I like this, I'm not sure mosquitoes should do any damage.  If they're big enough to hurt you, they're probably big enough to be killed.

Keeping MOSQUITOES simple and fun avoids too much frustration. Though these annoying summertime pests could inflict a whole range of maladies and be impossible to destroy, MOSQUITOES as originally suggested add a bit of spice and are in no way deadly or too annoying IRL. Although the suggested idea of needing some way do destroy them other than melee weapon is very appealing as they do little damage even with WOUNDING or simple DISEASE and would -at worst- chase an adventurer from an area as appropriate if caught unprepared.

How about you take the pixie model, shrink it down as much as you can, give it a shadow shield effect, and call it a Rot-infected Mosquito? It has that annoying tinkling sound effect which resembles the buzz of a mosquito, and if you spawn them in larger groups it can get REALLY annoying.

Really it's basically the best weapon that mosquitos have.

I can think of a few ways. Mosquitoes are a pain in the rear and the thought of PCs carrying Death Armor as Mosquito repellent or something amuses me. Or a druid AEing them and sending them at sport hunters. I'd suggest making them deal 1 Negative damage or something so they don't just bounce off barbs. Pup, something has to be able to do at least one damage in order to inflict a consequence like Disease or Wounding. If you like, think of 1 damage from a huge swarm of bugs being them getting up your nose, bites distracting you and generally making you less able to fight well.
So far as wilds areas go, I find it's much more interesting and fun to have stuff that's slow going to face unprepared, than suicidal to. For example if you're looking at mobs with 100% Slashing and piercing immunity but only 4 HP, you just put your weapon away and slap them, or bring out your Captain Overkill FlySwatHammer. They'd not  be a game breaker in genuine combat, but a couple of those Swarms would be a mob that leads to a little more RP of conditions than "buff up and roll over it or run away".

A swarm of wasps can make some serious damage to a person IRL, i dare you to kill one by swinging a stick.

Also let us not forget adding West Nile.
