Transmutation: The everyday world

   So what is Transmutation?

It is among the most popular and useful of all of the schools, allowing a mage to manipulate time and space, and the physical attributes of his test subjects. Perhaps the most iconic Transmutation spell is Polymorph, which allows a mage to turn into a form more suitable for the task they have planned, be it combative or otherwise.

Transmutation magic affects the world around the magi, or his chosen test subjects to alter their personal timelines. As a spell, Bulls Strength is used to increase an individual’s muscle power for a set duration. This is achieved by working with the potential muscle mass for their futures provided hard work is ensued, and gifting it to them in the present. The semantics of such are beyond most who shall ever read this literature however, so I shall not continue on this point any further.

How are we affected by transmutation?

Within the limits of time and space, everyone is affected by the art of transmutation. Each day a farmer growing food will tend to his crops with water and nutrition, the time taken for these crops to grow from seeds into full plants, is an example of everyday transmutation.

Bearing this in mind, I believe it would be possible for said farmer to enhance his crops, growing bigger and more bountiful results when the seeds are infused with magic from the beginning.

Through alchemical experimentation, I believe it is possible to infuse seed production with spells such as Endurance and Resist Elements in order to withstand harsher environments so that crops will still give a much better yield during cold seasons or droughts.

Other dimensions, involve the effects on soil fertility levels. Above all it would be necessary to test what would happen to the environment if farmers were to maximise yield and crop quality levels as opposed to simply growing naturally.

Transmutation within the cooking and culinary trade:

As a master-chef and restaurateur my own experiments involving the production of high quality foods have been interesting. Pies baked under the heat of magical fire provided by the spell Burning Hands often take less time to reach perfection and thusly increase production rates.

Food stored under controlled environments, and imbued with magic has the potential to store for longer and safer periods of time.

Further works are to be expected, should this paper have garnered your interest, please contact Chef MacElroy in order to discuss trials and experimentations for the future.
