I Honestly think goblins, kobolds and Mountain Orcs should be non app sub races again. With the amount of goblins kobolds and Orcs on Ymph it would make sense to allow monsters to be non app again at least a temporarily experiment.

"Hi guys, i'm a goblin plz don't kill me i am harmless."

They were removed because people saw them as questing buddies instead of monsters, though the situation -has- changed as we have regular npcs on the ziggurat...

I don't think the server is prepared for a Dr. D orc.

I'd say goblins maybe, since we have the squat that is.. tolerated. But not kobolds nor orcs.

I'd like to see Goblins and Kobolds the way they were. But not Orcs. We do not need a DrD Orc. >_>

No way.  Not only does it breed cutesy kobolds and goblins, it always brings out rampant PvP and mostly the crappy kind.  It was tested before and things got way out of hand.  It also greatly divides the playerbase.

I didn't ever encounter that sort of thing, plum. Infact, because Kobolds were app-free, I had some of the most fun I've ever had on a PW, with the Silver Kobold Tribe. Working with Tieflings and Drow and such. Wasn't cute, save our own shenanigans, but that was hidden from the rest of the player base.

Goblins makes sense seeing as Gobsquat is allied with the Ziggeraut. Orcs, no.

A lot of people think that we removed Goblins/Kobolds because of the reasons listed in this thread, but in actuality, you're all wrong. Sort of.

Cutesy Gob/Kob's had nothing to do with it, though we all recognized they were silly. Nor did the team think that the PVP involving them was out of hand. Playing a Gob/Kob just meant, someone was -probably- going to kill you in the briefest way possible. That was fine with all of us.

The reason, mainly, that they were removed was because we decided that there would be a disproportionate number of PC Goblin/Kobolds, to the NPC Population that should be interacting with the players.

Obviously, there are likely more NET TOTAL goblins kobolds and orcs on Ymph than there were in the Underdark. However, in the Underdark, it was more likely that you would get outlying, lone goblins and kobolds, willing to congregate in lower, or the surrounding areas. On Ymph, nearly all of the Goblins/Kobolds/Orcs are members of Tribes, or otherwise have no interest in the PC's, other than to cause grievous harm (but even that is, generally, pretty lazily accomplished). Thus, it would not really make sense to have tons of Goblins or Kobolds or Orcs running around with usually "loner" agendas. You can only play a tribal outcast so many times, before one begins to wonder how precisely a tribe establishes norms, if it kicks out so many people.

But also the cutesy thing.

I would say it is much easier to apply for a subrace like Goblin or Kobold due to their weakness and commonality than, say, an orc, lizardman, or minotaur. Things like that are rare for a reason, and their apps are tougher for a reason. Goblin and Kobold, like Stargazer, are easy to app for and the DMs are more willing to take a chance on you.

The thing is, apps aren't as scary as a lot of people seem to think. Dr. D, I know you know this because you've played so many monsters.

I suggest that everyone interested in playing a goblin or kobold say so in a Group Management thread, get together and all apply at once. Alternatively, if you have an idea right now and don't want to wait, then apply for it. Check out some of the examples that have been posted, or ask a DM for suggestions.

Goblins, Kobolds, and Stargazers are -practically- non-app already.
