While the Holy Symbol is -Holy shit epic-, after a small discussion I was curious:

I noticed the idea was for consecration, areas, etc. Can ritual sacrifice be added to that list? Offering items of rival faiths or evil to Good deities, or even the offering of PC's to "X God" is something that is often very cool, but many times people don't pursue as it requires a DM. Granted ritual sacrifice of a PC should still require a DM, naturally.

This would be like soooo cool, even if it did nothing other then destroy the object in question rather then the current rp it's destruction, toss in bin, we hardly need a bonus for doing as our gods desire and destroying objects of evil in their most holy of names, but the ability to destroy objects place on the ground from a few steps away so others can witness the items destruction out and about.

Jeffrey destroys a lot of objects that aren't even evil, more neutral but he sees them as having a foul taint such as the ever present weeping shields that bleed black blood with shadows clicking to them, he can never work out how a goodly priest/pally could stand touching them for long periods let alone actually using such.

Haven't seen the Holy Symbol system yet, but looking forward to it now that I'm home again.

Items being sacrificied are a bit of a pain in the ASS. I wouldn't mind adding the sacrifice PC option with a bit of cinematic flair to the procedure to the Holy Symbol, obviously PVP guidelines of good play still apply.

Porkolt

Why is sacrificing items a pain in the ass? I'm not disagreeing, merely curious.

I do believe that OP's suggestion is quite excellent!

Because there are over 10 000+ varying items + those made by active DMs. That would require me to scroll through the 90+ loot tables, assign a magic item value , and a deity to the religious items wherever they are in these tables, and then script a system to crossmatch enemy faiths of over 50+ Gods.

Of course. I could make a lame hackjob that blankets stuff based on their description, but there would be errors, etc...

Not interested.

He did this for the pallid mask. <.< I can only imagine how long that took!

All deities accept gold and gem tithes I believe.  It would be better than nothing and would add another reason for people to be active and earn wealth in order to appease the gods.  Though it should be carefully balanced in order to prevent some major over-powered abilities given to already fairly powerful clerics.  Maybe influence a cleric's standing to their god and the chance of a rare spell like Raise Dead working.

Maybe for every 5000 gold the cleric donates, they get a raise dead scroll to use? <.<

I don't see many clerics reaching level 9 tbqh!
