Herr something Kerl

This post is intended for the benefit of new players' understanding of how to make use of some EFU systems that are not as straightforward to use. Feel free to post here if you find something missing, incorrect, unclear or if you have something you find yourself explaining repeatedly to newcomers.

Player Tools

These are made available through the radial menu and can be configured to suit your needs through the crafting menu. Most are universally accessible, although some classes + perks unlock specific relevant player tools. You can find a detailed explanation of what player tools are and how they're used in EFU here and here. If you have difficulties still, a small example of setting up a tool is available below.

So let's say we want to set up the Relic Guardian's fundamental tool of Atune to Relic. We start off by opening the radial menu with right-click..

.. selecting the Special Abilities..

... and accessing the crafting menu.

From there we have a number of options, for our purposes we want player tools.

Sometimes we have to select the "next" and "back" options to pick the ones we want. For now we want to set player tool 5 to attune to relics.

Confirm your choice, and player tool 5 will be made available through the radial menu by way of special abilities -> class abilities. They are not labelled for use, so remember that you can always return to the player tool selection menu to know which tool corresponds to each use.

And there you have it! Should you wish to attune to a relic, you can now use the relevant player tool to select it and attune to.

Climbing

Climbing is a system used to traverse normally inaccessible areas of the map. Ledges, bottomless pits and steep cliffs alike have both scripted and non-scripted ways to use the climbing system. It is used in conjunction with the EFUSS Climbing skill and your values of Strength, Dexterity and Tumble skill. You can use the Climb player tool to access ledges (up or down!), as well as items that will increase your odds of succeeding a climb. Some items will even automate the climb, and these are best found exploring the module.

Some areas will prompt you when you enter a climbing zone.  These will likely require a rope and grapple more often than not, as well as a tool (typically a grapple gun) to launch it to the other side with. As before, it is possible to find items to automate the climb.
