Brent Kendall, Mama's Boy

Brent Kendall was born from a conversation to revive the political guild rivalry between Black and Red, taking on a more anti-establishment slant as a result of the Red Guild's victory at Mutulakt. My goals were simple:

Quote-Get arrested, spend time in the stocks.
-Go for an internal Prefecture- Housing Vaults I guess? High Apartments could be more amusing as a 'small-town boy done right'
-Incite a riot- either against one of the monster npc camps of Sanctuary, or against a 'Red' institution: House of Trade, Red Lantern, Grotto. Make extensive use of rotten fruit throwables.
-As Prefect, pass strict anti-monster regulations in the Housing Vaults. Define what consists of contraband ('foreign materials' i.e., outside of Sanctuary). Work out some manner of protection deal with the Dark Brothers but keep those freaks at a distance- most of the conflict will probably come from their presence in the Vaults.

As it happened, I seemed to have rolled the right concept at the right time. Brent fell into the position of Prefect of the Housing Vault after inciting riots at courthouses, starting a gang, picking fights with Red politicians and generally being an unlikeable asshole to anything deemed unnatural. At the time I got started, a lot of PCs fell into that last category, You might think that would mean alienating myself from a lot of interactions, but one thing I've learned about Prefect is that everyone wants a piece of you, good and bad. I have way too many screenshots of meetings at the Beetle, the Grotto and everywhere in between- most of them aren't spoiler territory but they aren't exactly exciting. Kendall did a lot of scheming, a lot of planning, but ultimately he went out as he lived- dying in defense of those important to him- for the sake of a new, better life.

Anyhow, time to get on with it. A big thanks to the Bulwark PC's, MA'S BOYS, my many enemies in the Red Guild, the Waw, the Exile Collective, monstrous subraces, pretty much everyone. You were fun to bounce off of. In no particular order, here's a bunch of the moments I remembered to screenshot.

An oddly prescient fortune.

Meeting important political figures, and screaming/swinging at them.

Making friends.

The Gnoll arc, aka Bresley's Bulwark goes through some tough times.

A few random shots.

Eyesore

Having been there at both the character's inception and his end, I can easily say that he was absolutely stellar throughout. Commendations to you, Blue41.

Chronicler

Wish I had a chance to get to know him a bit better, but I really liked our few conversations. Looking forward to your next character.

Talir

An excellent character who, from a single encounter, went from the impression of "this guy is awful at listening to NPCs" to "seems interesting, what happens if I do this next". Always did make his own choices, for good or ill. Well done and good luck with the coming concept!

Kinslayer988

Brent was very fun and his iron will was something to behold. Good luck on your next!

If there was a PC for a returning player to run with to get an impression of Sanctuary politics, Kendall did that incredibly well. I enjoyed playing with him and only wish that I was on for when it all went down. Great run, blue. Can't wait to see what you do next. Got a few screens to add, I'll put them up later.

Now go play something less stressful.

Was always interesting to be around! Hope someone else will follow your example and pick up the mantle for the Blacks. You did great.

I don't think I ever directly interacted with Brent, but I loved everything about him. Red PCs have it fairly easy, they just need to be powerhungry and greedy. Black PCs require more nuance, and Brent nailed it. His folksy manner was great and fit perfectly.  The whole semi-thuggish "Ma's Boys" thing was gold.   And as always Blue41 was out there antagonizing the shit out of everyone.  I think I got a contact high just hearing about his high-profile high-quality in-character trolling.  Looking forward to your next Blue!

Demure

The cards always know.

I thought I had a great screenshot of our little one-on-one conversation shortly after the Collective came around, but I can't seem to find it. Ah well.

It was Brent's stubbornness that started Rebecca's slow shift from a very black political ideology to a more red one.

Pandip

Your PC's are always fun and interesting to interact with during little and big conversations alike and Kendall was no different. You brought a lot of life to what was perceived as a dying, neglected aspect of the server and it was great to see how much chaos and intrigue you brought to everything around you. It could go without saying considering the player, but definitely looking forward to the next.

The Samophlange

Brent Kendall is the perfect example of how you can stir up tons of IC conflict while being super engaging and classy about it. It was fun to work with him, and fun to feel the other side of his scathing opinions.

Up with the Blacks!
