I'm suggesting this since druids are amazing at killing everything but what they should be good at killing.

Smite Anathema

Equipped weapon gains +2 dam / +2 ab vs aberrations/constructs/outsiders/undead and another + 1 / 5 levels

This feels like it would fit great at Ranger L2/Druid L4, in a similar way to how Bless Weapon is cheap for Paladin and expensive for Repose Cleric. Especially if the level scaling was "+1 default, +2 at CL7, +3 at CL9", so it's meh for multi classes, but a L9 Ranger could go Doomguy on some Djinn 😂.

It would also fit in nicely with how Clerics get GMW at L4. Since then it's competing with other core buffs like Stoneskin, rather than being a no-brainer compared to any other L3.

With a previous discussion regarding ranger, I think it could use some more offensive output. What better place to find inspiration than in v5? Hunter's Mark can add that offensive edge that ranger is in need of. My proposal is that it should be a cantrip, to mimic the concentration mechanic in v5 that allows you to use it repeatedly.

Of course, there is the risk that this would turn you into a pvp god with the extra potential damage output. I think this could be managed by giving it certain time limit, so you'd have to recast it at a certain point in those drawn out pvp fights. And the duration motivates you to go pure.

Initially I was speculating that this would become too OP in combination with favored enemy. An alternative route to go, is to  simply give the ranger its favored enemy bonus against its target of this spell, but of course not allowing it to stack, if the target is already a favored enemy.

I am thinking the cantrip should not be available at lvl 1, but perhaps at a higher lvl, because while I am not against multiclassing, people don't need more reason to take 1 ranger level and keep it there.

Hunter's Mark

Innate level: 0 cantrip (Ranger)
School: divination
Range: 90 feet
Area of effect: Single
Save: NA
Duration: 1 round per 2 caster level

You choose a creature you can see within range and mystically mark it as your quarry. Until the spell ends, you deal an extra 1d6 damage to the target whenever you hit it with a weapon attack, and you have advantage on any Wisdom (Perception) or Wisdom (Survival) check you make to find it.

You can only target one creature at a time with this spell.
