"Dear Rennik,

I am guilty of attempting to brook with a d'jiin for Estellise's life and soul.

I am guilty of endangering others in err; but endangering, all the same.


I am not guilty of attempted murder. Murder is craven. And no one deserves to have their souls devoured by a fucking devil (Not even Naelin).

I am not guilty of summoning the horror on the Long Road. Do not get complacent in that investigation; the real brooker's still there somewhere in the Citadel.


This is both a confession and a statement.

I will not cheat The Wroth, who has seen retribution on everyone who has hounded me and my family in life. That justice in itself is a debt. And I do not deny his place in my mortal journey.

Exile is appropriate. And I shall honor it; even if it impedes my capacity to tend the Garden.
