Between all the perks / pure bonuses that already counter multiclasses, it feels really outdated and more of a DND thing than EFU thing.

Moonlighter

big agree. it feels like something from another game.

zerotje

Agreed, multiclassing is fun and shouldn't be punished.
If it's overpowered, it should be or already is app-based multiclassing.

Dredi

Isnt this hard coded?

I could be wrong.

Whyleth

I know other serves have been able to remove this, but not how.
As someone who does a ton of elf multis, I also agree.

Nevrus

If it's possible to mod races, changing the favored class of them all to any like humans would probably mostly solve this?

Electrohydra

Easiest solution is just to give every race Favored class: Any. So you'd still get multiclassing penalties but only if you have 3 classes.

Dredi

Honestly I'd be all for removing it if need be. Its a bit of an archaic mechanic that doesnt really work in EFU

Egon the Monkey

It's not a meaningful penalty in the same way as e.g. Dwarf -2 CHA, as you can just grind past it.
I think it would be an improvement to remove it, and for Human to just get some other benefit rather than Favored Class (Any). Given the high skill checks and amount of 'Save Or Get Big Problems' in V6, racial stacking bonuses are amazing. It's just that multiclass Penalty isn't an interesting drawback.

DYBIL

Remove the XP penalty if and only if the frontloaded saves get removed with it.

level 1    +2 primary
level 2    +1 primary
level 3    +1 secondary
level 4    +1 primary
level 5
level 6    +1 universal
level 7
level 8    +1 primary
level 9    +1 secondary
level 10   +1 primary

total is +7 primary, +3 secondary for level 10

to be something like this instead

level 2    +1 primary
level 3    +1 secondary
level 4    +1 primary
level 5    +1 primary
level 6    +1 secondary
level 7    +1 primary
level 8    +1 primary
level 9    +1 secondary
level 10   +1 primary

Total is +7 primary, +3 secondary for level 10

If this is hardcoded, there is always some roundabout script you can use to fix this. Something along the lines of having a script flash every time a character receives exp. Scripted to detect when someone is multi-classed for 20% or 40% penalty. And Add an additional exp portion to compensate for the penalty.

So when someone is 20% impaired, you give them a bonus 25% exp from the script.
(500 turns to 400 (20% of total is penalized), +25% exp (100 of 400).

Etc.
