I just did the new Melek theme and that is basically 'get the heck out, this is broken'. The other types of enemy are a good mix and you can target the casters.
This one drops back to back Web and Cloudkill onto an open field, and then piles in with fast monsters that are immune to the friendly fire. It's just not fun.
I'm not joking when I say it felt twice as hard as the other options, and not challenging. Because you have so little control, having to keep moving out of the persistent AoEs. Unlike the other enemy themes, where you risk getting blown up, but can control your positioning.
This one denies you the use of the choke points, and then can just rapidly dunk you with layered crowd control and crit-monster two hander NPCs. Because you need good HP and reflex just to make it into the Web/Cloudkill slowdown box to heal someone.
It's not a challenge because it's basically 'savesbuild or get wrecked'. Worse in some ways than Roost as you have no corners or retreat directions.

I think you might have gotten a gloom, because we did it earlier and it did not cast those spells. There were some new spells, and it definitely was challenging, but not impossible. Or maybe we were the ones with a gloom that changed the spell loadouts.

The melek theme recently got changed according to the Discord, so maybe you went post change.
But I am assuming we didn't have a gloom that changed it, on account of the fact Melek Scent Markers usually do cast Cloudkill. We also didn't seem to have anyone glowing etc.
