Greetings, Summoners!

In celebration of the release of Gloom Cards the very first Gloomsday tournaments will be held on the 16th of Qdim! Two single-elimination competitions will be held consecutively for the Wizard and Warrior Gloom Card formats to determine the first Gloom Masters of Ephia's Well. Never played before but want to learn? Newcomers to the game can expect to be taught how to play. Do you simply want to watch the spectacle? Spectators are welcome! Refreshments will be available for both the players and audience. Anyone is capable of playing the game.

Entry fee of one hundred Dinar. Twenty five percent of the entry fee goes to local charities while the remainder is put into the prize pool! Arcanists are more likely to prefer participating in the "Wizard" format while those without magical training are more likely to prefer the "Warrior" format. You don't need to be a wizard or a warrior to participate in either format! You may pay to participate in one or both of the tournaments, but you must pay an entry fee for each one. Spectators are not charged.

The prize pool is a base of one thousand Dinars for each bracket on top of entry fees and sponsored donations. Those who wish to additionally sponsor the tournament(s) or who have other questions or recommendations are instructed to contact Sister Selsi, the operator of this event. First place wins fifty percent of the total prize pool, second place wins thirty five percent, and third place wins fifteen percent.

UNIVERSAL RULES:
Each duel has three rounds.
You win a duel if you win two out of three rounds.
You may not conjure the same Gloombound more than once a duel.
You must summon a new Gloombound each round.
You forfeit the round if your Gloombound escapes the arena.
In the first round, the loser of a coin flip summons first.
In subsequent rounds, the winner of the prior round summons first.
The first time you break the rules, you are considered to have forfeited the round. The second time, you are disqualified from the tournament.
Disputes will be adjudicated by the organizers.

WIZARD FORMAT RULES:
You may cast beneficial spells on your Gloombound once the duel begins.
Casting hostile or detrimental spells on your opponent's Gloombound is not permitted.
You may feed your Gloombound potions without limit once the round begins.

WARRIOR FORMAT RULES:
You may not cast spells on any Gloombound.
You may feed your Gloombound a maximum of three potions once the round begins.
The card "Algal Bloom" is banned from this format to keep matches moving at a reasonable pace.

This tournament is dedicated in memory of Feodore Dustwink, the man who pioneered the field of Gloomology. He developed the original cards that ultimately served as the prototype for this game. He is both remembered and dearly missed.
