Colleagues,

We are at a critical juncture in this election, the Rose have entirely united against us and where is our sitting Legate Garen Linwood?

He is entirely absent, content to just sit back and watch things unfold as we push for perhaps the most significant victory for our league. Disturbing rumours have reached me as well, deals done in the dark, outside of the purview of the Scribes of the Sublime Garden. Arslan bartered and sold to the Banda Rossa, agreed and ratified by our Legates in secret.

This news is most concerning and goes against the very principles of our League. It goes against the proclamation of our esteemed Sultan Osman VI Al-Maribid. As one who is working hard towards our success, I demand answers from Legate Linwood and I'm sure that my colleagues would like to know what he thinks he is doing? The league deserves an explanation.

Will he give it? Is he even still governing at this point? I demand answers. The League demands answers.

My fellow members of the League of Purple,

I confess that I share some concerns as to Legate Linwood's absence of late, and my earnest prayers go out to his good health and well-being.

Blessedly, Legate Nasreen Shabani is Legate Linwood's Prelate. She is vested with the duty to represent him in his absence, as is tradition, and that even should his absence become unendurable by our beloved officials, Legate Shabani has the requisite experience to assume the heavy responsibilities of the office that she once stewarded. As a fellow daughter of the tribe of Salhin, it would be my humble delight to lend what measure of aid I can to her should that need arises.

In any case, to elevate these concerns for Legate Linwood's absence to grievances also appear premature.

First, Legate Linwood assumed the office under the direst of circumstances and a shroud of grief, a grief that we each share. The murder of Legate Kruehtzer, unresolved to this day, must weigh heavily upon him, lending to dispirited absence while he wrestles with his grief. I trust that our Janissaries continue to pursue the apprehension of the culprits, both the assassin and her paymaster, with all the dutiful diligence that His Sublimity expects of his Janissaries. Perhaps it might be that once the investigations are concluded with the expedient arrest of the assassin and her paymaster, Legate Linwood's shroud of grief would be banished and he would stir to deliver the Martyr's Justice and the Mother's Mercy.

Second, Legate Linwood only recently embarked upon a spirited legislative pursuit a mere nine days ago, and it cannot be said that the length of absence since is an intolerable one. Our Legates are entitled to their rest and contemplations. Having been of the League of Purple for almost a year now, I have witnessed the crushing burdens of the office shouldered by many of our Legates, and my heart aches dearly for them with the deepest of sympathies; it is my understanding that our officials likewise share these sentiments, and have always been willing to lend a measure of patience.

With humble gratitude,
Acolyte Seriyah

There are safeguards in place to deal with matters of prolonged absence, and as the Acolyte notes Legate Linwood's Prelate is prepared to step in to fulfil his duties during times when he cannot.

A degree of patience should be granted to ascended Prelates over elected Legates, for they rarely are fully prepared for taking on the full weight of their new role initially. The impact perhaps all the greater in Legate Linwood's case for the unprecedented nature of his ascent.

There is a time to hold eachother to account, but the midst of an election is not it. There is no benefit to it until we are more certain of the path we shall be on in the months to come.

Colleagues,

There is patience and then there is folding your cards. One thing that I refused to do this election against overwhelming odds, I did not falter. Legate Shabani has been equally absent of late, I do not believe either Legate even voted this election.

One must ask they question if you can not even find the time to support our league at the voting station, do you truly have time to represent the leagues ideals and lead us forward? Unless decisive action is taken we are going to lose the next election as well and be out of office.

You say patience is required, I say action is required. If neither Legate Garen of Legate Shabani is prepared to step up and lead I stand ready to deliver on my campaign if the league agrees.

What is a typical deadline of absence Deputy Chief Scribe until such matters are considered? We are soon approaching two weeks of absence from Legate Garen and a large period of absence before this. We must consider what is best for the league.

I might be new in the League but an absent Legate is equal to defeat of our entire League.

it is simple.

To give official notice from the Offices of the Scribes of the Sublime Garden, the matter is in progress as the relevant absentia articles have been triggered.

The League shall be informed once full assessments have been made, pending determination of the current Status of Legate Linwood. While this matter is in progress, please direct all Legatine Matters to Prelate Shabani who shall be considered to hold De-Facto authority until the assessment is complete. We, and I hope the League, are hopeful for the return of Legate Linwood to more active duty soon.

Legate,

You may have appeared for the briefest of moments but the concerns remain the same. Will you even read and answer these concerns?

Will you answer about Arslan and selling out your league?

You're leaving us very little choice but to mount a campaign against you next election which is likely to fail, league in fighting doesn't project strength.

If you will not fullfill your duties, if you will not take responsibility for your actions, step aside for someone that will, or drag our league down and prove me right.

Greetings,

I understand my absence was alarming, but yes even I must clear my head sometimes. Concerning Arslan, I was honoring what to my knowledge was a past agreement, simple as that. As for next election, do not worry. Barring any sudden change of heart, I likely will not be running. Just trying to do what I can at present.

I know you are upset with me Enmur, but the accusations levied against you were dire, and I believed an investigation to be warranted.

Regards,

Garen Linwood
