Letter to Skink

[A shakily written letter slipped under their door in the Plaza in the dead of night]


Skink,

It's me. Last night, the Rose got recalled to the College to recount the night's events. Good number of Balladeers, good number of the Sisterhood.

I had a vision. It had been a while. I saw one of the Tormented-- biggest one I've ever seen. It told me that they were watching the Well, that their eyes were always on us, and at first I thought it was talking about itself.

But it was talking about the Sisterhood.

They are watching you even now. Their eyes are everywhere. Even as they have talks with you, they spy on you.

At first I was gonna tell the Lyrist. I still might. But then I remembered our conversation, and I thought this might help you, somehow. Because I don't think it was really a Tormented, just something wearing their face. And even though the face scared the shit outta me, there's always some truth to the words.

Selsi was there. Zoe, too. They didn't see it. They didn't hear it.

If we're allies, if we're all supposed to be friendly, why would they spy on us?
