party loot-inventory?

After finishing any quest, -any- everyone drops the items on the floor, then take turns to grab the stuff. It's long, tiresome, sometimes even boring, it is also inconventient because some players like to place items too close to each other so you can't see them, the fact that half of them are generic loot bags doesn't help either.

I'd like to have the option to create an invisible inventory thought the chat commands. There the whole party can drop the loot, and split it up. Since you can see the icons, and the items don't stack on each other it would be easier and more convenient. Once everything of value is taken, you can elminate the inventory with all the trash inside, therefore having no need to walk to a tash pit, or drop items to the floor.

This would make spliting the loot faster, easeir and more convenient. Giving us more time to RP and play, rather than split some stuff.

Not sure this is feasible and probably isn't desirable. Making loot splitting easier from scripted quests is unlikely to be top of the DM's very long to-do list i would imagine :(

I can't imagine it being too hard though. Like a tent can appear out of nowhere an inventory can. That's all that would be needed.

I just don't think its that hard to arrange dropping loot etc. IG, i have never seen this be a big enough issue to need scripting time of the DM's given over to it.

I HATE when people drop loot in tall grass, because I have a computer that can actually draw the grass, and I like to see it. It's not 2002 anymore, people! Graphics up. :(

What about, instead of a command to create the placeable, we just add placeables in places where people are likely to split loot? Like, a Cluttered Table in a backroom of an inn, a Disrupted Trog Feasting Table near the cave entrance, etc.?

It would still be low priority, but there'd be no script work involved - just some creative building adjustments.

It's not someting too serious. But it does take time. Depending on the players, even half an hour.

If it is really too much bother, then make an invisble inventory on the kingsman tables. It serves the same purpose, only forcing players to split loot at the kingsman.

Yea, i was a bit slow to type my post. But yes if scripting an inventory that appears out of nowhere is too much work. Such things would work

Howlando

I think it'd be worth doing if someone wants to take the time. Just an item "Heavy Bag" that when dropped makes a bag placeable would be sufficient.

Should be relatively simple, and would be useful and help clear up lag produced by too many items on the ground.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Charles: We’ll have to distract him and trap him, but it can be done. Do you believe it, Bob? You believe it?
Robert: I don’t know Charles. I don’t think it’ll work.
Charles: It will work!
Robert: No!
Charles: It will work! What one man can do another can do!

Cruzel

Sure, nobody replies when I suggest this. I see how it is.

No one likes you, Cruzel. ;)

I suppose the only foreseeable problem I can imagine is that there will be less telling what a PC might actually take.  I assume that by having a container as such it will still only say "PC Name's acquires something."

Drakill Tannan

It already happens, on the right-lower bar.

"You see Thane adquite a thin object"

Ebok

:/ This sounds like a mess. 8 people gathered around one placeable all trying to see what's there and grab shit. ... *shudder*

I'd still use the ground, tbh.

Drakill Tannan

I don't get how could it be a mess. It's in fact more ordered.

Ebok

Because everyone cannot view it at the same time.

Cruzel

Actually it might be possible to allow multiple placables to link to the 'same' inventory. I'll look into it!
