Bug Reports / Cutthroat wage
August 19, 2021, 01:59:45 PM
The 10 minute wage seems to be applying starting at level 5 rather than level 8.

RIP captain, was a good run

Following a server crash, ZF flame weapon has applied an OUB Sorc mod that cannot be removed even by resting or relogging, causing the weapons of some of my party members to become unusable by them.

It also applies this mod normally, which is a minor bug and can be a nuisance if someone unequips their weapon.  In this instance it cannot be removed though

QuoteZealous Faith
When casting Flame Weapon on a target with the same Good/Evil axis alignment as you, they gain the same benefits as you do when casting it on yourself. When casting this spell on targets with alignment axis that is opposite yours (along the Good/Evil) they instead are hit with a brief vfx and flash of negative or divine damage indicating the rejection of your ethos (and no buff).

I had a similar idea, except granting the benefits to people who have the same deity as you instead.  A bit more thematic, but also a bit more niche

I enjoyed the few exchanges we had, and I love watching your energy shake the server.   You always try your best to include other people in your plots, even if they don't always bite, and I think that's a fantastic and understated quality of yours.

Suggestions / Remove XP loss for familiar death
March 20, 2021, 12:11:30 PM
As the title says, I'm not sure if there is a particular mechanical balancing reason for this, but as it stands I think familiars could be more interesting than just buff/utility bots that you immediately unsummon away.  Maybe making it so that you cannot summon them again for an entire reset after their death, but I believe removing the XP penalty would encourage more varied use out of them.

I've said it before, but well done on your first character!  I think you took Rivaros much farther than most would have and I had a blast playing with you

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Arkavin Vaul
March 07, 2021, 12:09:04 PM
Arkavin Vaul was a farmer's son from the Steadings - born to a devout family of the Triune, Arkavin found his faith wavering around the time of Nephezar's rise to power.  With the arrival of the Count and the perceived blasphemy of his title 'The Lord Returned', Arkavin found within himself a religious crisis and fell into self-imposed exile until he could discern a truer meaning and faith.

I set myself up with the following ideals, and I'm proud to say I made a great effort to stick to them, never returning to the Peerage Ward and operating entirely from the Ponds, and later from deeper rings.

QuoteNever to return to the Ward, until his faith is renewed. (No longer Fallen).
Never to associate or assist the traitors of Orza, Sunpurse, and loyalists of the Count.
Never to turn back on a word or ally.

He found allies and friends in many well-meaning outcasts and misfits, his world view was constantly challenged and adjusted, and while he tragically never found a deep ring oath to believe in (though I came REALLY tantalizingly close to one I wanted to take), he did figure out his beliefs before the end; putting stock in convictions and ideals rather than superstitious faith.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a great start to help - these gloves almost singlehandedly made the concept of an exile sustainable, and are also some of my favorite thematic loot that I've received

And his wolf armor was the coolest aesthetic I've had on a character yet

In the end he died in good company - fearlessly pursuing his desires, and perhaps doomed by his impulse.  His story had more to tell, but so do most, and that's just the nature of things.

See you on the next!

Clifford was excellently characterized, it was a great narrative experience to watch him struggle to strive to be something better than what the world is steering him towards.

A formative part of Arkavin's journey, wherever that may end.  Kudos to you and good luck on your next!

The lower average HP you have across characters the more fights become determined by RNG crit fishing.  I didn't play in previous chapters, but if other classes are falling behind I'd rather see them buffed directly than see all HP values drop.

Bug Reports / Vestige lodge inner door
January 18, 2021, 01:49:55 PM
The inner door to the lodge does not work with the key provided.  It is breakable though, so not a huge deal and the lodge is usable but you have to break open the inner door to get out.

Lazlo was super entertaining to be around, great job!

Lead an era of the EFU:COR story and ushered in a new one.  A great character that I always found a bit distant IC, for some reasons made clear in this thread.

Suggestions / Re: unnerf the starting experience
December 01, 2020, 01:11:39 PM
I think there's a bit of a distinction to be made; as a character with access to all hubs, including the Peerage Ward and Ticker Square, the starting experience is an absolute breeze and you can get level 6 and a healthy amount of groats and equipment in just a couple of days.

  • If you don't have access to Ticker or the Ward, it's a little slower, more so without access to the Ward.

  • If you're an outcast character with access only to the Ponds, the experience becomes significantly slower and more difficult.

I don't think any of this is mechanically inappropriate; it stands to reason that outcasts should have a tougher time.

My suggestion is to add one or two max 5 or max 6 quests in the Ponds area, focusing on an XP reward more than anything else.  This should also help the recovery of outcast characters who level down.

You created an iconic and influential PC mostly through his presence, charisma and clever mercantile.  No easy feat... good job.
