Perhaps she is calibrated to want you to spawn at the exile camp as it was, I'm not sure!  But with the Gaeseric's spawn point, she claims not to know you and tells you to go away.

Suggestions / Heart Clutch Victim - Spasm Animation
June 16, 2011, 03:43:12 AM
This would help make Heart Clutch look more like what it is!

Additionally, some sort of hand gesture motion could be done by the caster.

Hello!

Alchemy can create some extremely powerful and influential things, and for that reason, it makes total sense that there be some kind of limit on the production of some of the stronger stuff to avoid a bloat of overpowered items.

However, it's also a bit of a drag for a long-term alchemist who has a set, finite amount of an object he can make (say, two or three), because even if he's around and prominent and awesome for a year, he never can make more!

So, I suggest something that can address both potential problems: the limited items be changed to a temporary limit system.

Example - Instead of a limit of three phagebead canisters ever, it is changed to one phagebead canister per week (or month, or any other time period deemed sufficient).

This would help avoid discouragement for long-term alchemists who may find themselves locked out of some of the coolest items there are, while simultaneously avoiding the potential for dozens of these to rain down upon the server like mana from heaven!

Sezarad Root [Drug], Haunspeir [Drug], and Zirian [Drug] all remain when used, leaving an empty husk of a 0 charge item in the inventory!

May be true of other drugs, not sure.

Crusader's Zeal, while not particularly powerful, is a really cool, flavorful perk in theory.  Unfortunately, because it's rather weak, it's not particularly noticeable when it is supposed to represent a Crusader's glorious battlecry!

So, I'd like to recommend that the tiny yellow wisp-over-the-head effect be replaced with something much cooler and more fitting for a rally that renders all of one's soldiers far more resistant to breaking ranks and fleeing in fear.

Suggestions / Rename the "Leaving Posts" Thread
December 27, 2010, 11:10:25 PM
This may seem very minor at first, but I promise the logic of such a change is sound!

That thread is usually on the main page, and it's posted in fairly commonly by a lot of different people.  This can give the impression (as it did to me about a year ago) that this is a dying server in which players are abandoning ship.  Upon studying the thread, though, you see that a lot of the posts are either returning players, or temporary MIA's.

Changing the title to "Leaving / Returning Posts" or something of that nature can only help new player retention when they visit the forums for the first time.

Most importantly, the time investment for changing the title is very, very low, so even the chance of an extra new player would likely outweigh it.

Suggestions / Scrying - Change Save Functionality
November 03, 2010, 01:25:27 AM
First of all, the scrying system is rad.  All I'm proposing is a slight tweak to the way it operates!

In a perfect world, the will save would be totally ignored, and life would continue on swimmingly.  However, it goes without saying that, at least subconsciously, characters may act somewhat differently when their player knows when they are being watched (and when they are not being watched, by extension).

Thus, I propose that the scryer be forced to make the save in order to avoid any metagamish situation entirely.

As a method of solving the issue of a dead-and-gone character clogging up a private room, a crafting menu option could be added (accessible from the Fugue, obviously) to surrender your control over an inn room.

Suggestions / Modify the Water Elemental Perk
July 10, 2010, 09:07:19 AM
Currently, the water elemental perk's ability has no saving throw, and takes effect even if all of the elemental damage is blocked by elemental resistance.  Meaning, no matter how high the saves, and even if you have protection from elements up, a ray of frost is an unavoidable several second stumbly-wumbly state where you move very, very slowly.

So, I suggest one or both of two things:

First, that there be some kind of saving throw the victim of this attack can make, given the immense power of slowing someone to an absolute crawl with a cantrip.

Second, that this effect not occur if all of the damage is resisted from elemental shielding.

The implementation of both of these in tandem may be a good idea!

Bug Reports / Sendings Not Appearing in mIRC
July 08, 2010, 07:49:12 AM
Unless this was taken out intentionally, it's bugged and no longer functional!

After a nice swim in the large "to some island" underwater zone, I experienced permanent movement reduction that no amount of resting, relogging, antidotes, or restoration would cure.  It was either due to the water slowing, or the multiple slow bolts I ate from a few irritating little detritivore slugs.

So, one of those two caused this persistent run speed loss.

Suggestions / Gathering - Herbs - "Give all" option
July 08, 2010, 12:29:36 AM
I did not see any similar topics with Mr. Search, so I suggest the following:

After choosing to give herbal ingredients, you are given an option to give all trade-able herbs you have to the collector in the same fashion as the fruits and nuts.

Probably a minor change overall, but it would save a few hundred "1 1 1 1 1 1 1" on the end of the user!

Bug Reports / Creaky Tower Quest

Only knives, sticks, and the boss give any XP when killed, even by a level 2 PC.

The sweet old lady known as "Mother" is assembling a group of Talontars to battle something big and nasty.

If you like mold, mucus, fungus, measles, ringworm, smallpox, or any other hideously disgusting growth, then we've got just the subject matter for you!

Expect to get drawn into some very big plot-oriented things that may well have a lasting effect on the server.   Whether you've an existing character who wants to convert or you wish to make a new character, you too can be one of Mother's Children!  Just about any personality type or acceptable Talontar alignment will work.

I'm looking to get a full church up and running, which means a fair number of players is greatly desired.  For any further questions, send me a PM.

Whether we succeed with our goals or not, we're going to make very interesting things happen.  Be a part of it, or you'll regret it one day when you're eighty and in a retirement home.

Bug Reports / Bomb Arrows turning into Ice Arrows
April 14, 2010, 11:48:58 PM
A PC vendor had a stack of 10 bomb arrows on the ground (the on hit: level 1 fireball ones), and my PC purchased them.  Upon picking them up, they turned into Ice Arrows (+1 cold damage), yet refused to stack with my other Ice Arrows.

This is very strange, and most definitely a bug!
