Screen Shots & Obituaries / Herman was here
November 22, 2017, 01:38:45 AM
[hide=the drawing board]10:51 PM general premise i got so far is of an old greybeard soldier type guy (possibly ilmateri fighter) whose previous experiences include his moral compass leading him to place bad consequences on himself and worse on those around him. possibl thinking of apping to be LN aasimar with it to heighten the gravity of distancing himself from innate morality and choosing human brashness over objective good as a sort of ends justifies means
10:51 PM method. goal to champion the choices of other exiles and others who embrace aberrant methods as they are truly sacrificing etc. in line with ilmater philosophy
10:51 PM i like that a lot
10:52 PM though i would do it without the aasimar
10:52 PM sure[/hide]

[hide=bio]This is the story of Herman Amar.

Herman grew up the son of a Tethyrean farming family. Looking for a life of more, he signed with a mercenary company and went on many missions and jobs that were often met with success. As time passed on, his knowledge and expertise grew to find himself guiding the company's actions by power of his wit, foresight, and strong moral compass. After a time, Herman and his associates (who were good and dependable men) were often held in high esteem and sometimes regarded as heroes by government officials and the common populace.

This went on for many years until around Herman's 40th birthday.

One fateful day, Herman and his company were had. They had accepted a contract from clergymen of the various Triad faiths. For reasons that Herman could only speculate on, this contract had been a set-up. Herman, his company, and the few priests acting as guides were captured and sold off as slaves to different buyers. Herman was forced to become a gladiator of sorts in the city underworld, where his reputation was infamy and his state of petty servitude was the source of his entertainment value.

Somewhere in these dark pits, Herman found the strength to maintain his sense of self. An Ilmateri priest, sold cheap to the same bidder as Herman, had died serving as a punching bag to a drugged-up bodyguard. While the man had physically crumbled, his spirit was never broken, held together by faith. Herman managed to get himself a crusty book that the late priest had found and used to transcribe some rote prayers and improvised verses.

Herman realized that he was suffering. He was suffering in a holy way, according to this book. Herman knew he had been betrayed. He had lived life according to goodly values and principles based on trust and community, and in the end he paid a heavy price for it. Not just for him, but for everyone who depended on him. He is bitter about this. For Herman, black and white morality became more grey and ambiguous. His struggles both internal and external began to fuel his appreciation for those who could withstand the pain, sacrifice up to the last drop, and become truly holy in the face of injustice and adversity.

At last, Herman's freedom came with another cost: the loss of the world, and the nearly-assured destruction of everything he held dear. Now, the rest of Herman's story remains unwritten.[/hide]

Suggestions / baublium for upper sendings
May 13, 2017, 03:23:18 PM
just a suggestion to make sendings from upper take one baublium to use just like the other sending systems.

some reasons I think it could be a good idea:
-makes sense IC since finding baub is usually more valuable than 10 gp
-encourages more PC to PC interactions instead of substitute dogmatic statements made over sending system
-increases value of IG resource as well as messages made over sending system
-maybe encourage other parts of the server for PC congregation apart from Freedom Square

Screen Shots & Obituaries / The Great Garcia
February 18, 2017, 05:30:41 AM
Thanks Wulfric, Miriam, Ophelia, Lina, Dracca, Jalynfein, Dermott, Zaresh for making this PC one of my most fun I've ever had.

My goal was to get involved, fight some PvP, take some risks, and have a good time.

Hope you enjoy these screenies as much as I did playing the Great Garcia!

sry for lack of context and shitty quality

oh and thanks DMs Halfbrood, Gip, and Ironside too!

[hide=screenshots galore]

From humble beginnings challenging fools at level 4/5 in the local tavern

I basically tried to fight people as much as possible and these people liked having a war machine around

There were some fun fights..

And some colorful characters..

Some legendary foes..

Some unlucky times..

And some wild successes.

Run when you're losing.

Almost became a robo policeman because of it.

And sometimes foolish statements were made.

DMs were not happy with my op powercrush build..

Bug Reports / rotlands quest transition bug
January 25, 2017, 07:26:23 PM
Hi Squad,

The pitfall transition is broken and the quest can't be completed. If you could at least put in a temporary fix while pitfall traps are fixed that'd be really appreciated, thanks!

Suggestions / Druid Wildshape fix
December 24, 2014, 08:29:07 AM
Hi

many of druid shapes have multiple attacks (like bite, claw, etc.) , meaning that if you want to pierce someone's dr and make being wildshape viable for certain forms you will only do reliable damage about 1/3 or 1/2 of the time because magic weapon and flame weapon only apply to one weapon when cast

My suggestion is to either decrease the types of attacks that all shapes get to 1, or to have buff spells apply to all of the creature weapons (though the first scenario seems more plausible and easy to script)

Thanks for reading :)

This delectable sausage item is not targeted for resting capability.

Suggestions / Greatmaul Weight
August 23, 2014, 04:21:11 PM
Greatmauls currently weigh 12 lbs in the inventory, which significantly outclasses other large 2-handed weapons. While it isn't a huge issue, I just think that greatmauls should be nerfed by upping their weight to be comparable to greataxes.

One reason being that greatmauls do bludgeoning damage, which is an arguably better damage type than slashing in a decent number of scenarios. Having these weapons made at a lighter weight makes greataxes and even halberds almost-obsolete.

PC name is Orsius Sepabra and he is a multiclass ranger/barbarian with at least 5 levels of ranger, though I'm not receiving any of the bonuses that are listed on the perks page (Favored Enemies: Dragon and Elemental). I've tried resting, waiting for a reset, resetting perks/abilities through the crafting menu, changing areas, pretty much anything I could think off.

Bug Reports / Touch of the Maiden perk onhit
November 25, 2012, 09:46:24 AM
The onhit contagion effect is not functioning properly. This might just go right along the list of other onhit effects/properties through the perk system.

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Remus Negrescu
September 03, 2012, 05:15:25 AM
I haven't made a death thread since EfU, so I figured I might as well make one this time around. There were more things I would have cared to do, but I'm happy with what happened with this character, and I had some immensely fulfilling roleplay.

The original idea behind Remus was to be a servant/grunt to a group concept with two nobles of the Mondragon family.

Humble beginnings

He joined the Muster in the hope of gaining more favor with the new mayor and maybe ensuring a sweet place to run the family operations from a new castle [Was looking into Old Stones and fighting Conglomerate and all that fun stuff] but when my accessibility to those 2 PCs ran out, I decided to still play Remus and redefine him in a way.

Being faithless was a big part of the character, as it basically defined his goals. With the Wall of Faithless and knowing that when a Faithless dies, he simply ends his goal was basically to become immortal, an escape from death, and he was pursuing that through becoming a cognizant, undead being.

A few choice roleplay moments that were really fun for me

[hide=ChoicePlots: Hopefully not spoilerific. Message me if they are and I'll remove them.]

You don't betray people and get away with it, it seems! :)[/hide]

I was actually super scared at this point, we were surrounded by beholders, and I wasn't confident that we could make our saves to avoid death. Really scary moment.

Naturally, anyone who looks for power joins the power-hungry Conclave, it seemed only a natural fit, and I became Sarportenus Thalavar's consort. "Fear and Survival, a strong bond."

We actually managed to do some good things, I think

Moments before getting whooped in the ass by a drow raiding party

This is just a final point of advice: I really recommend exploring the server. This last picture is one such outing that resulted in a lot of cool experience, supplies, and roleplay that was very fun and satisfying! EfU:M is bigger than Mistlocke, but that's what everyone says.

As for thanks, that goes to the DM Team, they really do a lot, especially ShadowCharlatan, for the past couple of months that I've been back, he is in the forefront keeping EfU dynamic and entertaining! Also, the Mondragon family, without you guys I would never have played Remus in the first place, the Conclave members for being a very conflict-heavy and entertaining group to watch and be a part of [They are like the US Congress, really], and Sarpotenus Thalavar especially from the Conclave, as the best friend to be had and to trust in, and Gejja Sambru for a surprise (but fun!) ending.

Catch ya on the flipside, guys.

Multiple times now, I have had flame weapon/darkfire cast on my weapon [shown here.], and multiple times has it failed on me and not applied the buff. I was told by a player that it did not recognize my spear as a melee weapon.

Now, as it does have acid damage, is this intentional? I would imagine not, but just bringing this up.

Bug Reports / Being subdued/winded and perks
August 01, 2012, 05:52:21 AM
I was in a sparring match and got winded. When my character got up, I noticed that my perk was not working [Sharpshooter for pure fighter]. I had lost the dexterity bonus and the listen/spot bonus. I doubt this is the only perk that has this happen to it, just letting you guys know.

Upon resting, the perk re-applied itself.

Not sure if this is a bug or intentional. I suppose it's easy-enough to fix but it could hurt in specific situations.

Hello.

I created this thread to see what the residents of EfU:A think makes[/u][/i] an interesting, memorable character.

Personally, I feel that it's in fact very difficult to create such a character, and requires much preparation.

Most of the characters I've played, I think have not been interesting, or memorable. Thus, I [And maybe those like me(?)] come to you with an inquiry about what you think makes an interesting, memorable character.

Suggestions / Craftable Robes in Start Area
September 04, 2009, 01:11:56 AM
I would like to suggest adding robes as an available option to the custom clothing tailor in the starting area, because

1: I want a rockin' loincloth that my character can start with

2: The only other (to my knowledge) available loincloth model available from a tailor is that creepy guy who would probably freak a tribal character out

3: Scholars/Mages show up in their pajamas instead of robes, and

4: Scholar pajamas have begun to bore me, and are not interesting anymore.

Go.

Mort's Nature Character Posting!

Personally, I am a big fan of the Naturey. There are plenty of awesome concepts you can pull, most of which I am sure are very relevant to the setting!

Just a heads-up, and a small wealth of information to pull out some creative and imaginative concepts! =D

Druidic Deities!

I'm not insinuating that there is a group being created. I am just stating that the Stewards may be in need of some of you folks. They're really quite awesome to interact with, and the simple shortage of players actually joining it is leaving something to be wanting.

Bug Reports / Old Monster PC
September 26, 2008, 01:56:18 AM
I had an old underdark Kobold PC, and when I logged in as him, I ended up in the Subrace Holding Pen. Sadly, there were no DMs at the time. (I think.) Just, if I could play as him again, it'd be nice.
