Bug Reports / Bubbleberry plants have no model
October 30, 2019, 11:30:49 PM
I don't know if this is a bug or intentional, but Bubbleberry plants have no model. There is a very small glow but it seems like it's often below the ground, rendering them almost undetectable unless you mouse over them.

Suggestions / Customizable spell casting text
September 16, 2019, 05:18:23 PM
I'm imagining a system where whenever a player casts a spell it can automatically speak an emote that the player has set up for that spell.  This would allow players to more easily portray their specific flavor on their spells.

Something along the lines of:
Player casts a spell
Then the player types
/c spelldesc add [A dazzling cloud of luminous butterflies shoots out from his hands]

And then when they cast that spell in the future it would automatically speak that text.

The cons is that it could be noisy if overused?

Suggestions / Familiar description editing
September 13, 2019, 07:47:04 PM
It would be nice if we could modify our familiars description in the same way we can modify our character's. No real need for it, I just think it would be a nice rp aid for those times when we actually pull our familiars out and rp with them.

Suggestions / Peerage Tailor - Dyes
September 10, 2019, 12:40:02 PM
The Tailor in Magus Naoli's Shop offers tailoring services and a uniform dye barrel/chest, but doesn't offer any dyes for sale. It would be nice for characters who can't go to Ticker Square to be able to buy some dyes here.

Area: Ring 99 - The Peerage Ward - Interiors
NPC: Chief Tailor Salarius the VI

Bug Reports / Released Undead Faction Issues
September 04, 2019, 12:56:01 PM
While going to explore/patrol the catacombs, I ran into a pack of what I assumed were 10-20 pc created undead that were then released. Some were hostile, others were blue. They were very close to the transition, I was attacked soon after I entered.

When I auto-attacked back they all turned hostile. Some of them chased me out through the transition. When I attacked the undead in the Peerage Ward, the NPC guards turned hostile and started attacking my pc and summons.

Bug Reports / The King's Gift & Yank Pack
September 04, 2019, 12:11:17 PM
If you are carrying the King's Gift and have your pack yanked, you enter a state where you are stuck with the flagpole effect and a permanent slow effect. Relogging or resting doesn't remove it. The only fix seems to be a server reset or a DM giving you a new King's Gift that you can then drop.

I think the desired state would be that when you are subdued or knocked out while carrying the King's Gift, then it would be safely removed from your inventory and placed at your feet. This would eliminate the need for someone to yank your pack, which is a real discouragement from participating in the dispensary fights in the first place.

Suggestions / Hematologist Perk
September 03, 2019, 11:45:09 PM
It would be a nice twist if a pc's blood item could be the target of a spell, and a Hematologist casting non-hostile spells on this item would apply the spell to the player if they are in the same region.

Perhaps allow hostile spells too, with a chance to destroy the vial?

Bug Reports / Nephezar Blood Testing
September 02, 2019, 10:51:56 PM
When you speak with Thaumaturge Nathaniel Torromos there is an option to have him draw your blood so you can place it on the altar. This creates a blood vial in your inventory. When you place this on the vial, the npc will make some comment about the magical quality of your blood.

It looks like any blood generated by any other means (Drawing via Syringe, alchemy) lacks whatever tags or local variables that the npc conversation creates - so blood drawn for a pc by Torromos might elicit an amazed response, while blood drawn using the syringe on the same pc will always elicit a commoner or garbage response.

The same happens with dragons blood, he'll comment that he is amazed that it's dragon's blood, then call it commoners blood.

This doesn't really effect anything mechanical as far as I know... but it would be nice if the player drawn response was accurate as this sometimes drives some roleplay interactions.

When a character who is in stealth mode fails a saving throw for an disabling effect like grease, web, choking powder, etc I think it would make sense for them to be knocked out of stealth mode as well, or perhaps they could receive a debuff to their hide/move silent scores for the duration of the impairment effect.

I think it would be interesting if potions brewed by wizards produced the planar tainted (I can't recall the exact terminology) version of potions. It would fit in with the idea that being around a wizard when he casts spells gives you planar sickness. People could make the tradeoff between dealing with a wizard who can produce every type of potion but it would advance your planar sickness -- or finding a sorcerer who can only produce a limited selection of potions, but they won't have planar taint.

Bug Reports / Nephezar Blood Altar
August 06, 2019, 12:17:32 AM
Whenever you place a blood drawn from a PC on the altar, you receive a message saying "You have already tested this blood before. While you are free to test as much as you like, you know that the House will not bother to reward further tests." - even when this is the first time you have donated that character's blood.

The only item I have found that rewards any house points is dragon blood.

One of her quest rewards seems to be a Glitt uniform for some reason...

Bug Reports / Mongrel Woods - Interior - Bedroll
June 01, 2019, 02:23:34 AM
There is a bedroll in the Pious Adela Nephezar's shop that only weighs 0.2lbs... my guess is that it is missing the extra 5lbs that the 40% weight reduction is supposed to act on.

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Valindra Starsong
May 26, 2019, 08:07:40 PM
Valindra was my first character for this chapter. The idea was relatively simple, a somewhat autistic elf who grew up a relatively secluded and sheltered life and who was Bad At People. She planned and scheduled everything out meticulously, she misunderstood people, misunderstood herself.  Didn't understand emotions or facial expressions. Her emotions and attitude would vary depending on what spells she had mimiced at the moment. She wanted only a few things out of life - long term security and protection

Her first real interaction with the server was Gallad Reed's call for a wife. She figured that she could be a wife, how difficult could it be? People didn't even go to school to become wives. Surely she could pull it off, and get some short term (10-20 years?) security out of it.

That budding romance was hilarious and sad, as she laid out in intricate details the terms of their courting arrangement. Sadly, it was not to be and her suitor was executed 2 days later.

She joined up with the Nearly Greens, one of the earlier Ring Running crews, and they pressed into the 92nd well before the content was able to be solved. The crew kind of fell apart once it hit that content wall and she was left aimless for a while.

After trying to establish herself for a while and failing, she started renting out her services for 2 weeks at a time. The first to hire her were the Stonebuilders... which didn't go that well, as she was usually left by herself without anyone else to work with. The second offer she accepted was with House Nephezar, which was a rather poor and defining choice for her. She was told a lot of stuff, and eventually accepted the role as a pet to try to seek spiritual purity and improve herself.

The virtues I had selected for her to try to learn and follow were based on the Roman civic virtues, as I felt that Nephezar and elements of the server had a bit of greco-roman feel to them.

A chance encounter with a malevolent fey led to her stealing the wings and glamour from a fairy, and I took this opportunity to give her a new outlook on life. One filled with overwhelming emotions that she had to struggle to understand and control. And pastries... so many pastries. She became obsessed with cooking and pastries. She was kicked out of House Nephezar and left to her own - only to be reinvited back in by Cotte when Valindra's life was in danger. She renewed her efforts to attain spiritual purity and understand herself.

She struggled with depression throughout it all, and this led to some careless remarks that eventually resulted in her wings being amputated, and her eviction from the House of Nephezar when she killed Dekkar.

At that point she was trying to reacclimate to life as a non-fairy elf, and a non-servant of Nephazar. Slowly coming to trust those that she should have been trusting all along, slowly shedding her cult-like beliefs she had picked up while in Nephezar. She delved far into the rings with her new group.

Then she died.

Thanks to everyone who roleplayed with her, even if she did not get along with them!

Some loot, I guess. People seem to like that stuff.

Not dm loot, but still neat. She carried around potions of protection from lightning in the hopes of learning how to "catch the lightning"

some interactions. I didn't take screenshots until relatively late in her life...
Her helping a new servant of the House. I was angling for a sort of veteran servant at this point in time, and trying to instill some gravitas and honor in the house.

Little known fact, Valindra helped to kill the last of the Dweebs, ending their dominion in the server...

She once summoned a cow in the Nephezar Refuge

A rather traumatic moment...

And a moment of divine inspiration...

Bug Reports / Ice Elemental Summon bugs
May 25, 2019, 07:23:32 PM
Ice Elementals do not have any DR or DI against cold damage.

The Ice Elemental Aura appears to be based on the HD of the summons, and since the player summons are always 1HD it only does 1-2 dmg with a DC of 10 no matter if you are casting Summon Creature I or Summon Creature IV.

Summon Creature II ice elemental initially showed up with an AB of -17, but this may have been some weird display or lag related issue. I was not able to test it out in combat to see what it's actual AB was.

Some summons and monsters are  very difficult to use because the collision sizes for them are so large - Earth Elementals and Ice Elementals stand out as two notable examples where their collision space is much larger than the physical models. I have witnessed 2 ice elementals on either side of an enemy being unable to actually attack the enemy because of this. I believe that this is primarily due to the CREPERSPACE values in Appearances.2da

QuoteTechnically, the NWN engine avoids collisions using two parameters in appearance.2da - CREPERSPACE and PERSPACE. Bioware has stated that PERSPACE (Personal Space) is used to prevent wall collisions, whereas CREPERSPACE (Creature Personal Space) is used to prevent creature collisions. This is why horses clip into walls, but can't pass between two guards unless the gap is really large. The actual implementation is more complicated than that, as illustrated by the discussion in this section. It seems that CREPERSPACE is used for spawning, but EffectCutsceneGhost by-passes collision checking, and no further check is made until the creature tries to move. Evidently, there are also implications for combat; CREPERSPACE seems to be used between blows to keep the opponents apart, but PERSPACE governs the distance at which blows are struck, to allow the opponents get close enough for the kill.

The CREPERSPACE for earth elementals and the crystal golems is 1.7 - for reference, a human is 0.5 and a dragon is 2.0. I think if we reduce this value it will make them more viable as summons and monsters. It is a 2da change so the impact to the haks would be small, since all the Q! haks are distributed in a separate file.

Bug Reports / Steam/GSID bugs
May 25, 2019, 11:38:59 AM
Sometimes after crashing and when you are reconnecting, Steam appends a .1 to the end of your GSID. When you log in, it can then put you back at the spawn location or some other random location that you had visited during this reset (in my instance, it put me inside of an empty QA that I had entered earlier that reset).

Bug Reports / Broken Transition - The Peerage Ward
April 30, 2019, 01:33:52 AM
There was a new transition and npcs added in the SW corner of the peerage ward. The doorway leads to an orzan barracks. The transition on the door leading out of this room does not work, leaving you stranded in the barracks.

The wiki indicates that Blood Frenzy should receive+3 str/con instead of +2 if you have Spell Focus: Transmutation. I only received +2 str/con when I cast it on myself. I do not know if the duration was changed, I did not time that.

Bug Reports / Displacement Faction Issues
April 06, 2019, 03:19:56 PM
I created a displacement mirror image of Tenilue in the Open Door. A "Dwarven Ringrunner" npc immediately ran up and started attacking the mirror image. It was only this one npc that attacked, the other npcs in the area did not attack. All of the npcs were blue to me and blue to Tenilue.

I do not think that I have been involved in any events or combat that could have resulted in faction issues for my own character. Tenilue's player said the same.
