Notices and Bulletins / The Board of Unsung Heroes
April 04, 2023, 06:07:47 PM
A series of announcements booms  across the wind:

QuoteLynneth
My dear friends and companions, I am proud to bring to your ear the word of the Board of Unsung Heroes. For those who have woefully underutilized talents in need of gainful employ or opportunity, make yourself and your talents known upon it!
QuoteLynneth
This idea was brought to my ear by Lady Murphy, and I have seen it done. This is what I would be like, as your Legate. Your concerns heard, and action taken on your behalf. Not empty rhetoric or promises, but truth in action. I am still gathering signatures, in the Krak des Roses, as well.

Within Krak des Roses travelers and regulars can easily spot a stone board that seems to function as a place for those from the public with telents underutilized in search of gainful employement,  and opportunity.  Scattered and disorganized notices upon it are staiend with wine and smoke from the bustling tavern.

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Kyana's death wish
April 02, 2023, 05:50:44 PM

First character after a really long break from NWN and first one in this chapter.

Backstory was simple: a refugee/survivalist from the Old City, who possesses enough with and common sense, combined with ability to learn and adapt to harsh conditions. Problem was that was applying only to outdoors spehere, but not to social interractions.
Outcome of that was rather predictable:  a slow alienation from the booming society and affairs, bordering with annoyance and even depression. However, quite a lot of exploration been done, few discoveries and part taking in plots, some of which are ongoing.

Special thanks go to Torchbearers, Benjin, Mari Blacke, Snorri and Competition.
Extra thanks go to Nephele, Moody and Leiah.

See you around!

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Esta Kearan
January 17, 2022, 02:15:12 PM

Esta Kearan died. She was my attempt to see what this server offers in terms of possible rp alleys for a non-human character in a human centered setting. Overall, this was a successful attempt.

Most of the time of her existance she was on a crossroad, trying to improve stance of her race in a Peerage society. When some events had happen, which she considered as an ultimate fail for trying to sway things from inside of a Peerage society she chose to chase naive and slightly childish dream of a "Wish".

Important mentions: Wealdath people, Tolinar Mistbourne, Ulf, Elric Rein, Phaezana Eltaleth and Sojourners. You've made this playthrough the most ejoyable.

//I'll expand this article with more details when I'll have a time for that.

Suggestions / Portal Clerical domain revamp
December 30, 2021, 03:16:04 PM
Hey,

As it was confirmed in EfU main by DM Tala "Portal Sense (detect nearby portals with Wisdom)" domain power doesn't work in this chapter.
Would it be possbile to add Unravel spell into Portal Domain cleric spell list instead? I'd say as a 4th circle spell, however 5th circle sounds alright too.

I am too lazy to use some image transform servlet, so suffer while watching 1309*2000 portrait of Aubree.

So Aubree began as something you don't define too well during character creation. Because of rl and work I don't have nearly as much time to play as I used to, so I've created some typical pond weirdo, which is easy to play.
But EfU would not be EfU, if all of a sudden I did not find an interesting angle on how to apply all the Aubree's oddity. That is why the very first and perhaps the biggest thanks goes to DM Dillusionist, who I never met online while playing Aubree, but influenced her more than anyone else. Talking about "psychic fish" stuff. Seriously, go check it out.

Attunment to stars, dreams, a talk with "psychic fish" made it possible for Aubree to find a friend, like-minded individual (or so she thought) and a companion - Alezabaal. And thus the second thanks goes to her.

Other important mentions: Ray del Piery, Tanook, Jarrod Barclay and Thurgrun Crimsonbeard.

And now the other side of the coin.

You might be curious what had happen to that charming lady, so she turned into something like that? An accident. A trauma. A trauma that unleashed some sort of cosmic brain parasite that used Aubree's weakened condition to take contol over... with some significant help of another person.
Where did parasite came from? Well, as per character notes her familiar, a chicken, Eggstein was a monster accidently diminished by Aubree's unpredictable magic.

There will be no loot section here, because I did not have any, except for few spoiler-ish pieces that came with the monstrous subrace.
Thank for reading and have fun playing nwn!

Bug Reports / Bards can not use Sound Burst scrolls.
February 26, 2021, 11:24:48 AM
The desc. of spells says it's  Bard 2, Cleric 2 spell. Despite that for a pure class bard scroll is marked red and can't be read.

Where to begin? Going to begin with how I highly enjoyed the character.

Short bio: Laura was a daughter of Sunpurse Retainers that perished during the Willowgrove incident that had happen long ago. Likely, and she did not know for sure, fight between changelings and sunpurses. She wasn't quite sure. That's why she began her way from the Ponds as the resident. I imagined that upon parents' death there was no one to return her to Ward, to be under care of Sunpurse.
The death of parents, depressing state of park, and blame she put on the changelings is what made her to become who she was. F.E. shapechangers and F.E. mosntrous humanoids ranger, with a desire to return into Ward and be a retainer, like her parents were.

So she did, after she managed to impress Sunpurse's Knight Ser Lafont. Having just 10 charisma and being a class that has no social skills in its arsenal I, as player, wasn't sure how to do that. Laura wasn't ace in politics as it turned out, though tried to do her best. As for how she impressed Lafont. It was with a hunting trophy. Head of werewolf hero.

I'll skip the details and various encounters that had happen after she became a retainer, hoping that they were expected and made people understand what her alignment was. (LN)

Her latest dream and goal was to be appointed as Castle Miserth's caretaker/ruler (no idea what is the exact title), because Laura been growing tired of the Ward politics which she in many cases simply been failing to fully grasp. She thought it's a win win to serve to House, controlling that stronghold, on behalf of Sunpurse and stay as much away from Ward as possible in the meantime.

Guess that's it! Thanks for reading. Now witness what you've been waiting for - lewt. Perhaps my first pc that had so much of it, all for those risky and rather brave deeds.

Ranger's movement speed bonus applies in non-wilderness areas upon logging in after reset.  Relogging/resetting perk via command/ resetting perk via crafting tool menu doesn't fix the condition.
The pc used for testing has also f.e. feat that grants extra 5% movement speed.
While it's nice to move quick inside the town (burgage/peerage) I feel like this is not a planned behavior of ranger's movement speed feature.

This one was difficult to spot, but given how long sling war against the gladiator npc been happening it's clear pc should have left area significantly seam sick.
In reality, there's only a message upon entering the area about planar energies that surround you, but there's no aftermath of such.
Neither during being there, neither later there were ambient messages in combat  log that would indicate getting seam sickness.

If the dummies nearby "Novice"-gladiator npc were supposed to be similar to those that are around Pond area - in reality they're not. Bashing them doesn't give experience point tick. Also, they dummies can be ruined in some ten rounds of kicking those.
It's a rather trivial bug.

Bug Reports / Crystal realm (monk seam) gladiator glitch
February 04, 2021, 05:13:16 PM
I rolled a pc out of curiosity to check that place as the class its designed for and saw next problem.
There's a "Novice" npc that functions like a gladiator. Upon talking to him and agreeing to fight he might glitch. You follow through and end conversation where he mentions that he wants you "to meet by the crystal". You follow into appropriate area, enter what appears to be arena and the npc follows you only to the arena border, but doesn't enter it.  He stumbles upon the wall that separates area for fighting from the rest of the place.
Theoretically you can still finish match by using sling, but I don't think it's the way the match supposed to happen.

As the title says. Tracking command shows that gibbering mouthers are oozes, meaning they're supposedly immune to critical hits. In reality they're not.
I won't speculate where's the bug exactly in racial type or creature's model.

There's a vertical climbing area in the beginning of the ring. You're able to shoot a hook atop of the wall, but climbing itself is broken. Upon repeated clicking in attempt to use the rope and climb up, character stays at the ground. You are able to untie rope however.
#14
There's a vertical climbing area in Ring 75 where a character should presumably be able to climb atop a tall tree. In reality after lodging a hook you are unable to climb up or untie the rope.

Pathing around locking button area  is glitched.  Textures do not block character movement properly. You can reach the button but after that there's a good chance you won't actually make to the door, being stuck in textures. The textures can also at times, depending on where you'll step "conceal" you from monsters preventing them from reaching the pc, the character still remains stuck though. Worst case scenario you're sent into the "limbo". See attachment.

Title says it all pretty much. While being in Ring 79 and clicking on a door that opens to transition back into 80 nothing happens.
I am aware there's a button nearby to unlock the door, but between rings like 97 and 98 or 96 and 97 keys work both ways.

I've done this quest twice during last two weeks. Both times I was the one who initiated quest by talking to npc (received quest puppet tool) and both times I was the one who tried to close it. Each time no experience reward was given. A key was handed over just fine.

NPC Adna in temple of Nine Faced God has a relic for sale called Nine (looks like a burnt book). She sells it for 0 gp despite it's a relic that unlocks 4th circle spells, has no min lvl requirement and got 2 charges of see invis per day.
In my opinion it should cost at least something. Relic is of Knowledge domain, which is not a bad one.

Bug Reports / Theo Winespill the Lion Club bug
January 09, 2021, 04:35:29 PM
That gladiator emotes something like "The Gladiator looks for his opponent, shrugs, then leaves" in cases when no invisibility/darkness+stealth was used during the combat. Clearly line of sight at arena could not be broken either.
And it's not a simple emote, he really departs, thus not allowing to finish the duel or giving card/exp

Bug Reports / Annoyed Pondsman/Jero the Fisherman bug
August 07, 2020, 09:30:19 AM
The way I understand the system one of the npcs (Annoyed Pondsman or Jero the Fisherman) must be present around Pauper Pond area. According to my personal observations lately none of them can be found in their usual spots (nearby main campfire, behind the mansion, in the alcove and a bit further alcove closer to Orza thugs).

With them being absent you're loosing opportunity to take their quests, which are quite good/rewarding.
