Announcements / [Necromancer Prelude]
February 12, 2024, 08:03:18 PM
Hello! I am looking for around 5 or 6 players to be involved in a Prelude.

Characters made should include a Military background that I will be providing upon start, however the most important thing is that all of the characters involved are either Necromancers, or are willing to work with Necromancers. This is, by all accounts, a Necromancer prelude.

PCs are not race restricted, though I would prefer humans. Non-Paladin, Non-Druid obviously.

For successful applicants, I will be ideally reaching out prior to the start of the event to explain your situation so you have some time to prepare your character, though worst case scenario you will have everything explained the day we start. I would appreciate all hopeful applicants to include a personal goal you may have as well involving what you may do once you're turned lose upon the server.

Apps for anyone curious can begin now, and they will end 2/19/2024.

The tentative starting date for this prelude will be ideally the weekend of the 24th or the 25th. It should be very conflict heavy, so please no alts, and no rush if you're already playing a PC, no need to abandon something good!

Janissary Amenya,

I apologize I could not be swifter to deliver this message in person. I heard your sending, and I would be happy to come and visit the Garrison sometime so we can talk about what it is you require from the local Governance. I have rarely ever gotten to exercise my newfound responsibilities as Magistrate, and I've been fairly eager to see what gets to go on. I would be more than happy to handle this in a few hours time, if you find yourself still around the Garrison, and none have gotten to you before I. I look forward to meeting with you later.

Narwen,

I've heard rumor that you're convinced the Banda Rossa intends to attack other settlements, and that you may be causing a stir over nothing. Allow me to clarify this for you: We are not going to assault Spring's Gift. There is not a plan to attack the settlement. There has never been a plan to attack the settlement. La Banda Rossa is under an exclusive contract to guard Ephia's Well, specifically the Krak des Roses, at the discretion of the Grandmaster. We are not, at this time, warmongering, nor are we going to be assaulting other settlements unless in her infinite wisdom, Grandmaster Elizabetha decides that is what we must do. You can rest easy at night knowing that you Newborn Elves are safe from Banda Steel.

From one elf to another.

Suggestions / Battlecaster Feat Suggestion
March 13, 2023, 06:50:33 PM
Just an idea that I had the other day, to increase the viability of playing armored casters that isnt the standard "Apply -ASF to equipment", if mages want to sacrifice one of their precious SF feats on it, I think it could be good to add a general feat that doesnt take away ASF, but functions similar to Blindfight in reverse-

Battlecaster
Prerequisites: Armor Proficiency (Light), Combat Casting
Specifics: This feat grants the character the ability to perform Arcane actions, even when armored. The character gets to re-roll its Arcane Spell Failure percentile one time to see if it actually fails to cast a spell.

Correspondence / [Torchbearers, to: Sol Auk.]
February 28, 2023, 09:43:37 PM
Esteemed Sol Auk,

Of the Gilded Groknak,

I would be delighted to speak sometime with you about your open position for the Scouting job in your company. I believe it would be an excellent bridge, a collaboration between your company and mine, the Torchbearers. Income from your travels would greatly assist us in picking up more and more maps, which I believe we could even broker a deal for you to sell at your stall for shared profit as well.

As our last dealing and cooperation atop the Lounge seemed to go well, I would be delighted to talk about the position and what pay could be negotiated between such deals.

Thank you,

Kythaela Reithel
Treasurer of Naelin's Torchbearers.

[A small black, leather bound book, covered in ash. It isnt marked with anything signifying importance. Some pages are crossed over, it truly begins 3 pages in.]

350 A[Smudged out words.]
200 Quentin [Smudged out words.]
50 Unknown, Masked
500 [Smudged out.]
300 [Smudged out.]
500 [Smudged out.]

Minus 2000, paid out to guild hall.

It's been a long time since I could really get things in any sort of order. With the Janissaries coming down, keeping a pocket book for receipts is a good thing. The only thing im missing is dates. Putting my skills to use has been something new, ten years in the desert, I almost forgot how to write. All I had was my things from the Outrings, and even now its hard to remember what the green and grey looked like. Maybe it'll look like that again.

It still smells just like it did before, theres coded laws, but who cares? People still broke. People still suffering. We're doing good, I hope, but money is still the be all end all.

Sentia Prognosticate

Rings fall, the old world is dead.
The ash cakes my face. The end feels so familiar.
The old spirit guides me home. Deep beneath red sands.
I found it, it found me. I knew it as soon as it was revealed.
Ancient clockwork, banned by Kingly Decree.
When broken open, innards of cable reveal to me.
They guide me home. I owe to They.
Through coils wire, show me the way.
I see its guile, guide me with your shell.
We are finally home. Welcome to Ephias Well.

The inner mechanics have guided me home. My practice was once of seamstry and stone. Intricate circles carved of blood and ash. Borrowed power, never to be owned by mortal hands. The rings fell. My master fled. I only had enough time to watch as the destabilized planar energy tore him apart. The old ways function no longer.

But there is yet magic. Gear and clockwork, ritual and magic, the circles and mechanisms of the cosmos twist and churn regardless.

I have come home. I hear Their call. I oblige. They show me through the guts of clockwork. Even though the seamstry has faded, I yet hear the tick within my skull.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

Naexi was my first shot at actually playing a wizard, that stayed a wizard. I decided just to make a funky little infernalist looking for her dad! Unfortunately, he was probably dead, as the "nice men" aka Devils who took him away said he was going to "The Seam Upstate," that funny little lie you tell your kid about their pets so they arent upset about them dying.

I dont have many screenshots, but I was exceptionally amused with GSF: Conjuration, highly recommend summoning 400 dudes.

My first shot at being a villain! Duoing with Sindil, who I have to thank for all of the SICK LORE we had for Amirah and Anums homeplane. They were awoken from a hostile place, where Amirah was tortured with magic and inflicted with the curse of the Shivering, given to all Rih-Wulkar who command the power to keep the beasts of the desert at bay. The Shivering was an affliction that I didn't play up nearly enough, but was part of the inspiration for becoming a machine in the end.

I really appreciate everyone offering their help and guidance IC and OOC, and thanks to CD, Special and the Orza crew, Cat and Skaghunter, RwG, and super thanks to Sindil and Nop for pushing through the stress with me!

There are a lot more screenshots, but there was a /lot/ to pick through. It was a blast making machines!

Sheet!

Other shots in no particular order!

The novice there when you ask to fight doesnt teleport you, and when you talk to him again he just says "Good fight" and gives you your rewards without anything happening

So, Vivian was made almost directly after Noxs execution. I was chasing the high of being on the run, I'd been involved in some SHIT, and I was desperate for the adrenaline and feeling of something else. I'd made a few characters that fought people, that clicked red and stuff, but I wanted to try something along the lines of a pacifist. I wanted to play a healer, and Stranger and Wyrmlance both helped me pick the Renunciation as my characters faith. It seemed interesting as a concept, and I wanted to learn more.

Vivian Servanus was not a good person. She could not feel emotions of others easily, she had to break it down logically. She ran a clinic in Ticker Square before her Renunciation, and there she did all sorts of evil things to people. She would charge them groats for life saving services, and she would refuse to use anesthetic or medicines to reduce their pain because she was a sadist. She wanted to watch them suffer, she wanted to make people hurt, she loved the pain of others. She was functionally the dentist from Little Shop of Horrors except so, so much worse. Organ selling, murder, what have you. And then Ticker Square burned to the ground, and she was forced to look at her life for what it had been, with nothing to her name after the fires. And so she journeyed to the Renunciation, and she swore that she would improve. She would give, and she would never take. Never again would she be that person.

She had a really long journey of self reflection, of pain, retainership, love, hate, loss, and friendship. It was the best 6 months I could have asked for, and I'd do it all over again. Thank you all for making Vivian such a fun and special character, and dealing with me preaching paragraphs at a time at you. Thank you to the Blazing Hearts, the Avowed, Moonspear, Bearic, Abala, everyone who interacted with her and helped was always such a delight.

Im probably missing a lot of screenshots, I may add on, but these were the ones I could gather in my current emotional state lol

Suggestions / Death Avatar
November 10, 2021, 07:32:11 PM
I know it isnt really that important of a thing, but maybe buff the Negative Plane Avatar that the Death Domain gives too? With how the Nothing is viewed, it isnt really very useful at a baseline let alone as something that might make you KOS if its seen. It'd be neat if it was a little stronger for its summoning cost

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Nox Acacius
July 30, 2021, 05:26:21 AM
I made Nox originally at around the same time Scitus came up with his, around the beginning of the year. She was the daughter of a small house who had some small estate called Ravenshold in the rings somewhere. She was given a formal education, and her father taught her how to fight with a sword so she could duel amongst the Peers and bring honor to their minor house. A night came where mercenaries clad in unknown colors came to rob, and pillage, and burned the estates to the ground, and Nox fled with her fathers blade Krokloz into the night. After fleeing, she became a gladiator fighting in arenas through the few rings, illegitimate ones, to the Rat Raft, to the Spinning Groat. She wanted to master her weapon, and become a duelist without Peers ideally, but everything would change shortly after becoming a Sunpurse retainer.

She was a lot of fun to play, the lore and adventures I got to have with her was exciting, and I learned what life is like for a different kind of outlaw than I played before. She was supposed to be honor bound, stick to her oaths (which she managed, mostly!), who wouldn't abide by certain atrocities. She went to walk a path of redemption for herself, which led her to ringrunning, and all sorts of odd places throughout the rings. She sought to breathe life into her companion, Krokloz, returning life to the ore of the weapon she'd had at her side for so long in her quest ot become closer with nature and understand the secrets of the Rings. (Thank you Bearic! <3)

Thank you to Doof and the Heartseeker crew for making her fun, and all of the Sunpurse retainers and everyone Nox met, fought, and made friends/enemies with along the way.

My first ever EFU character! She was a lot of fun to play, I was frustrated at times, but she was a perfect learning experience to ease myself into EFU.

She was a lot of fun, and I'm very appreciative of all the kind words and the wonderful characters that she met along the way who helped devolop her into a full, proper character. She was an Awoken, who grew up in a Mystran temple in Faerun which was sacked by Banites when she was young. She was left cursed and scarred by fire and magic, and created a mask out of her mothers Mystran cloak, wrapped around a Banite mask that she had scratched the symbol away from frantically. She lost her name in a fire, and became a wanderer until waking up in the City of Rings!

The reference for her face/scars, the hair/eye color are wrong, but its a good idea!

Somewhere in COR, the only remaining place with her name, lost in a sea of names.

Most* of the names she'd been given. (*I couldnt fit them all into a single screenshot, but yknow)

Out of the Gate:

First Friend

Worms

The Councilâ„¢

And finally, chess in the beyond!

She finally died after being so ballsy toward the end of her life, learning that she actually had friends and things to fight for beyond simply becoming an unknown entity. Although everyone she ever told her name to died shortly after, completely coincidently (probably), her name remains tethered to the realm, inscribed upon a high peak somewhere in the mountains!

Thank you guys for helping make my first character so enjoyable, I'm looking forward to messing about with the next!
