Quote from: lolmagics;181313Good stuff. Can't wait to see your next :) (Docks ftw)

VanillaPudding deserves some applause for ending someone else's PC the right way. I've had some good PvP deaths, this one was the best. The ingredients of a successful PvP kill are:

1. Implied consent of the person you are killing.
2. A chance for your victim to role-play.
3. A chance for your victim to find a way out.

It's not practical to have all three in every PvP death, but if you're trying to do right by your fellow players, these are good goals to have.

Then I'd say she was an unqualified success.

I'm guilty of it. I like a good troll probably as much as anyone here, but I like having new players even more.

When I find a new player, I do my damnest to make sure they know how to do the things they want to do in EfU:A. I put a lot of time and energy into shepherding new PCs, and I know that other players do too. There have been at least two of my recruits who, after being told the best way to contact a DM, took one look at that channel and didn't even bother to say "goodbye."

In my opinion, it's not the children you need to worry about. It's the adults who get most turned off by the shenanigans in there. That's what convinced me to just knock it off.

If you enjoy trolling, there is always Fark.com.

Quote from: Disco;180759I am telling yo Lulzebub that I took acid damage. It was green numbers in the combat window. And after the fight my tiny protection spell was still fully charged.

I'm not disputing you, I'm confirming what you are saying!

In no particular order:

1. Ettercaps - When spiced, this quest was the quintessential Underdark experience. While protecting Sanctuary from ettercaps you're also pissing off the illithid who is trying to breed them.

2. Zombies on the Stairs - So many adventurers, who were inexplicably intimately familiar with the Battle of Thermopylae, gave their lives and precious consumables to save those stairs from destruction. It was a real shame when they finally had to go.

3. Chosen in the Sewers - This quest was pure Sanctuary: distilled, refined, rolled into a joint and smoked.

4. TS.cdp - 'Nuff said.

EDIT: One more thing: "Good dark."

I've had three characters with the ability to use elemental protection go in that quest since they changed it and I feel really stupid that I never noticed this until you pointed it out.

I've even died from those damned things and it still never occurred to me that I shouldn't have been taking acid damage. Must be that other kind of acid.

I think higher level quests (10+) should award something other than XP. Maybe you could have a quest where completing it unlocks a merchant, allows you entry into some part of the server you would otherwise have a difficult time accessing, or grants you some hint about the server's deeper lore.

Alchemical reagents?
Recipes and formulas?
Gaeseric's mother's maiden name?

The possibilities are endless.

I use an Nvidia eight thousand something-or-other, but I'm sure there's someone who will tell you the ATI Raedon what's-it-called is way better.

I really don't keep up with the market enough to give you a straight answer. I usually find the most expensive thing, then buy the next cheapest one. Always works for me.

Oh, and a good bus speed is usually going to be about a third to a sixth of your CPU speed. That's pretty normal, from what I remember.

The graphics card is what's going to make the biggest difference when playing EfU. Choose that first, then build the system around that. The second most important feature is CPU speed, followed by bus speed. Be sure to find out the bus speed, because that's the bottleneck for the whole system. A lot of places will sell you nice parts on a crappy board, which undermines the point of spending the money on nice parts.

Agreed with the above, desktops are the way to go. They are cheaper and just all-around easier to work with when things start to go wrong.

I don't advocate the use of a macro bot, as that usually causes more harm than good. Otherwise, thanks for sharing.

EDIT: Voted.

Chosen of the Faith
You are on a mission for your god, and cannot suffer failure until your work is complete. (Cleric only)
- Bonus: The PC is able to respawn one single time at their choosing without incurring an experience penalty. Not applicable to deaths from PvP.

A suggestion: those who think the spell needs to be changed ought to try the spell out first. Perhaps this is a mistaken impression, but it really seems like anyone who has actually used the spell in its current form is satisfied with keeping it the way it is.

Quote from: Coldburn;179961I actually felt a surge of emotion as your dad hugged you.

This one still gets me. I dunno, maybe you had to be there.

Now that we're on the surface, it doesn't seem like such a big deal anymore.

Quote from: lolmagics;180086I used to get stuck on trying to be promoted and stuff but that's no where near what makes anything entertaining.

One of my most enjoyable characters was probably one of the shittiest members of the faction to which they belonged in all of that faction's history. One of the best faction characters I ever interacted with was also a complete failure to their faction.

Moar drunk and crooked Infantrymen, please. Considering their new position in the grand scheme of things, there's a lot of room for decadence there.

Yeah, I was kind of iffy about the last two for exactly those reasons, New Guy, but I figured they were worth including because often the confusion arises from two or more different PCs being unable to type fast enough to steer the situation. It's just a lot easier if one person is responsible for the typing part. There will always be situations where a "group leader" is undesirable.
