Give Half-Elves +2 persuade

Seeing how in PNP half-elves got a +2 to Gather Information and Diplomacy checks and are known as good ambassadors who bridge between human and elves and seeing that Half-Drow get +2 Bluff. I think it makes tons of sense for a Half-Elf to gain +2 Persuade considering that Half-Elf is an underplayed class I feel it might increase the playability of half-elves.

Ebok

Half-elves are underplayed, they should be though. And playing them when there are a bunch of them is just kinda bad form. They are suppose to be that rare uniqueness, and hindering them somewhat to maintain that is fine by me.

TheImpossibleDream

Gnomes get a bonus to craft trap as do dwarves to other crafty things I don't see why not. I really don't think +2 persuade is going to have people RUSHING to go play half elves. Unless they add a "[Persuade] Please put down your axe, kill yourself and give me loot Chosen of Gathmar."

Drakill Tannan

ImposibleDream has it IMO. +2 Persuade won't do much.

Races are played by flavour. If you want a childish adventurous dude, you play a halfling, if you want odd stuff, you play a gnome, if you want to be arrogant and misterious to the others, you play an elf, if you want to be brutish a dwarf, if you intend a socialy inadapted then likely a half-orc, etc.

What is the flavour of half elves? I think that is the point to see, to me they are boring because they are like humans with some elven traits, and not fully accepted in either sides. Not the best for an epic character, maybe for a bard or something but...

If you want half-elves make a half-elf with a personality unique to the race and show it off, players will like it if it is good, and start making half-elves too.

Pup

This seems like a rather minor addition to an incredibly gimped race.  Sounds fine to me.  I also suspect though, that if you play a half-elf well, you will be rewarded by the DMs.
"So what else is on your mind besides 100 proof women, 90 proof whisky, and 14 karat gold?"
"Amigo, you just wrote my epitaph."

"Maybe there's just one revolution.  The good guys against the bad guys.  The question is, who are the good guys?"

It's an good idea for flavour and it's not like half elves are a powerful race tbh.

VanillaPudding

Yeah that happens when you play anything well. Keep in mind though that Half-Elf is the base race for quite a few subraces and I think they would need to modify all of those to give this bonus to a basic Half-Elf. Not sure though, otherwise it's a fine idea I think.

Caddies

Meh, I guess, but honestly its pretty much at the bottom of a very large list.

Semli

I played a half-elf recently.  Immunity: Sleep is decent, but a much better ability in PnP than in NwN as past level 5 it only applies to attack items with Sleep as an on hit property. Needless to say I never got hit with sleep and the small skill bonuses didn't even apply to my particular character since I wasn't increasing them in the build. +2 Persuade really wouldn't have helped much either in that particular build.

Don't know how to fix 'em though! You should only really roll them if you got some sweet RP idea for one I guess.

ScottyB

Half-elves are so rare that there's a single country holding nearly 400,000 of them. Mmm, Aglarond.

derfo

i think half elves are pretty decent actually when compared to humans, does +2 persuade really matter?

Howlando

I'm indifferent on the suggestion as proposed but I just want to comment -

QuoteIf you want a childish adventurous dude, you play a halfling

Halflings are not childish, please do not role play them that way.

Some may be mischievous, or light-hearted, or jolly, but certainly not childish or giggly. Thankfully we haven't had too many played that way.

Amen.

Equinox

Howland loves his halflings. play a childish one at risk of wrath.

And back to the OP. I'd agree it'd be a good idea. but not very high priority.

Disco

Ugh is it really worth spending time on this?
