Apologies in advance for the large screenshots (yay fancy 23" monitors).

This character was created on Saturday, July 3rd, 2010 at 08:06:15 PM.
Since creation, this character has logged on and off 73 times.
The character has spent 4 days, 1 hour, 50 minutes, and 27 seconds online.

Some background story:

Colette was orphaned at a young age in the war between the city-states of Hlath and Iljak in Vilhon Reach. She was taken in by monks of Eldath (Disciples of the Yielding Way/Brothers and Sisters of the Open Palm) based in Samra who raised and inducted her into their order. However, as Colette reached her late teen years, she started to find herself in conflict with the impracticality and ineffectiveness of Eldath's dogma which allows for the use of violence in defense, but not the punishment of wrongdoers.

The concept I originally had in mind was that Colette would join the Touch of Class. Her Eldathyn background would be used as a basis for her role as a philosophical "counselor" while she moonlighted as a burglar, stealing from the rich. That, as most of you know, didn't work out because while she was successful in mugging the Drunken Tradesman in the ruins, she lost (just barely) against RwG's Banite, Bartemis. Realizing that she was a crappy Eldathyn, she had no other choice but to give up her faith, joining Bartemis, and eventually, Moander's Cult of Rot. Her many journals chronicles her development from deluded faithful Eldathyn, to half-ass trying Banite, to mind-controlled, zombified Moanderite.

And now, screenshots!

Colette started out nice to everybody.

Especially the Church of Ilmater in the Docks.

To help the Docks, Colette took up banditry and gave a portion of her procedes to the Church of Ilmater.

Once word of Bartemis got around, Colette did a bit of "information gathering".

As well as just plain theft. For a bit of time, Bartemis would leave spare equipment in the Temple of Tyrants in a donation area. Colette frequently helped herself.

[hide=Large!]

Petty? You betcha.[/hide]

Colette takes a break from petty vandalism to learn something useful.

Eventually, Colette encounters Bartemis in the Warden's District and goes in for the strike. She would have won had Bartemis not used a huge slime summon >_>

Within the Temple of Tyrants, Colette gets the crap beaten out of her and realizes she's a terrible Eldath.

Bane +1

Irony, it's delicious.

Hey what's this hole doing here and where does it--OH SH--!!!!

[hide=OMG!!!!]

Yeaaaaaaaaarrhghgbrhbuh bdubladublaubleruvlvblwrgbvilwgvliygvrwybsalkydgdddd!!!!!1111 Mind melting.

Eternal life? Ding! Ding! Ding! Does that mean the Wall can suck it?[/hide]

After the encounter with the Bog monsters...

[hide=Oh no! A sick patrician lady!]

As you can see, Moander is everywhere on Ymph. That poor woman on the left side? A victim, who's belly is now fillwed with delicious seeds of Moander.[/hide]

Obviously, THE BEATINGS WILL CONTINUE UNTIL MORALE IMPROVES isn't the best of policies. Sooo, when the time comes... Drink!

Poor Freddie, is he falling for a Rot monster?

Some of the fun things that Rot Cultists do... Dip corrupted, atrophied fingers in the Kingsman drinking fountain.

Dip corrupted, atrophied fingers in the water fountains in the Docks.

Touching people with corrupted, atrophied fingers.

[hide=The beginning of the end. How does it happen? Watch and see...]

[/hide]

The end... Or is it...? Sadly, Colette's maybe lost soul will never know...

Some other things I want to mention:

Try playing a faithless or a false character. It's an interesting experience because it means your PC is genuinely afraid of death, not knowing whether or not s/he'll end up in the Wall.

Thanks to... Oh, you know who you are, all you crazy guys.

It's nearly 5:00 AM and I spent the past 1+ hours working on this thread and screenshot. Why?

Because I love you all so much.

The Boom King

Sorry to see her go so soon. I look forward to your next character.

Thomas_Not_very_wise

A beautifully complicated character. :)

Random_White_Guy

Bartemis prides himself on...well, knowing people. He sits there listening to them talk, and twists their words in their head. Colette was the first this actually worked on :D Set the bar really.

Also the first docksman he saw "registered".

Conflicted Collette Chooses Cautiously

Sadly, like all fun events, I got caught up in the moment and forgot to take shots of her end.

She wanted to talk to Bartemis about something sinister, and rot cultists are shady business so he told her if she wanted privacy she had to be shackled in order to keep her from doing all kinds of rotty things to him.

Talking went on for a while. While she was doing her conversation in the first image she began pacing and ranting like Bartemis does. She was pacing around in her shackles laughing softly, talking vehemently about her faith I was kind of proud...

Until she told him to do something.

QuoteBV: "Tell me-"

CS: "Hrm?"

BV: "Tell me, in that twisted and infested brain of yours...where does it feel that a shackled traitor somehow dictates the situation?"

CS: "..."

Conversation kind of went downhill from there... >_>

That said! It's players like Collete that make being a cleric worthwhile.

She went from spying on him, to being caught spying on him, to being brainwashed by him, to serving him, to betraying him, to trying to steal his followers, to attempting to hire him to help her for some sinister...

And it was a blast every step of the way :D
[11:23 PM] Howlando: Feel free LealWG
[11:23 PM] Howlando: I'll give you a high five + fist bump tip

[1:34 AM] BigOrcMan: RwG, a moment on the lips, forever on the hips

Dash

Great job, too bad we never got to have a follow up infested chat :P

Waterworlds

Awesome PC Caster, Collette was fun to spy on, and i maintain that your conversion to Bane was one of the best RP sessions i've ever had.

Being more religiously "liberal" in a setting like FR really opens up a lot of options for a character in more ways than one. I highly recommend it.

UnholyWon

Awesome character, can't wait to see your next one!

derfo

Looks like you had a fun time, keep pumping out the dynamic characters.

Oskar Maxon

RwG knows that CAPS IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL

Semli

Awesome stuff. Go strong or gtfo.
