Alchemism in rest areas

Alchemists and herbalists are everywhere... It seems like the new fad in Ymph... Every corner you turn, there is someone using a pocket lab, exploding stuff, and trying to turn air into gold... Well, it has become something odd to see, suddenly, everyone is an alchemist. My suggestion is, to restrict the use of these things to resting places, or another restriction, like labs, so it doesn't make the environment so odd, and immersion compromised.

Garem

I kind of like it! Plus, this will change in time.

Random_White_Guy

I don't think its particularly immersion compromised. There are always people playing around and seeking to get rich quick.

There's severe consequences both personally, RP, and "HEY STYGIANS THAT SON OF A BITCH BLEW ME UP", all play into things easily to keep Alchemy in secure, distant locations.

Staring Death

Due to what can be done with it, I respectfully disagree. There are some very imaginative ways to use herbalism and alchemy, and limiting the location limits how they can be used.

The Old Hack

Personally I think it adds to the roleplay and that it can even generate conflict. If any of my characters sees someone make alchemical experiments in a populated area she will at the very least complain and maybe even take serious offense. It also gives guard PCs more stuff to keep an eye out for and deal with.

Everyone loves smugglers.

"BAN: DANGEROUS ALCHEMIC SUBSTANCE FOR CONJURING MONSTERS THAT ATTACKED THE CITIZENRY. ANY FOUND WITH SUCH SHALL BE FINED, JAILED, OR OTHERWISE".

Sounds p. cool to me.

Conflict + Black market alchemy. Everyone wins.

THe alchemy sistem is new and neat. When it's no longer new, people will stop.

sylvyrdragon

I don't mind it.

My character has chased numerous out of 'unsafe' area's.  It just sort of gives her another dimension.

Disco

I dont like it. I feel this should be restricted to a few areas.

Jayde Moon

Summoning a table wherever you go is wtfpwn!

Srsly, though, I agree with a previous poster:  It's new... as most fads do, it will eventually die down to a more appropriate level.

DollarPhil

I think that would be a very bad idea. Because the results of failure can be explosive/summon monsters, PCs need the option to work on it away from other characters. Changing it would restrict use to in the wilds or PCs with inn rooms/faction bases.

The table's supposed to be just wherever you've set up your bag of burner's and retorts. Could be on a log, packing crate, whatever. Also it's destructible. So if you don't like someone causing lightning stikes all over, you can smash it up :D

el groso

Yeah, maybe it is a bad idea. Guess I was just annoyed by the fact that suddenly everyone is an alchemist, stumbling at alchemist tables everywhere felt a bit odd. Glad many of those posts made me view this some other way.

Underbard

Sort of odd that 18 strength fighters can't carry a Tower shield around, but 10 strength wizards can pack a table on their back 24/7.

Kotenku

oh you hush underbard. The obvious solution is just to make alchemy tables give +3 AC, and let fighters have 'em.

Lenthis

Yes- I totaly agree.. the second I see an alchemical tower shield.. I will never leave.
