Let me tell you about Sarisa Verawyn

The concept behind Sarisa Verawyn was very simple. She was inspired partly by Annafreya Whiteraven (a previous character I played recently) and partly by the Adventure Time pilot (you can stop watching once the ninja's show up).

Her character portrait is another lovely piece of work by the amazing Charlie Bowater.

Anyhow, there's only really one thing you need to know about Sarisa Verawyn: everything she said was a lie, or at least, lead up to and supported a lie.

Naturally, however, I'm sure most of you want to know the truth. So here's hear backstory which I wrote for the app:

[hide="Backstory"]Background Story:

Sarisa Verawyn was originally born Kerrigan Irlingstar of the Noble House Irlingstar of Waterdeep. She grew up living a comfortable life mingling and entertaining amongst Waterdhavian high society. When Kerrigan was 19 years old, she met and fell in love with Rhanzen, a son of the rival Stormweather family that does business in the same shipping trade and industry. Kerrigan and Rhanzen knew that their competing families would not approve of their relationship, especially considering that their families favoured rival deities (Selune amongst the Irlingstars and Auril, Umberlee, and Talos amongst the Stormweathers) and so they kept it a secret from both their families.

Their secret trysts, however, were discovered nearly a year into their clandestine relationship. A furor erupted as both families made demands of both Kerrigan and Rhanzen to end their relationship. In response, the lovers decided to abandon their families and attempt to live independently on their own. This arrangement worked well for a couple of months as both lovers were well versed in business and had numerous private investments that allowed them to fund their new life together.

It was learned, however, that one of the Stormweather uncles planned to assassinate Kerrigan in a ploy to force Rhanzen's return to the family. Fearing for both their lives, Kerrigan and Rhanzen went to the Irlingstars for help but their protection was offered only if the relationship between Kerrigan and Rhanzen came to an end. Kerrigan was infuriated by this ultimatum and swore off all contact with her family.

The Stormweather assassination ploy was executed the day later. Rhanzen attempted to defend Kerrigan from the assassins but he suffered a fatal wound while doing so. Horrified at Rhanzen's impending death, Kerrigan's necromantic sorceress powers manifested and were used to slay the assassins. Kerrigan, however, could do nothing to save Rhanzen from dying of his wounds.

When the Irlingstars learned of Rhanzen's death, they offered open arms to Kerrigan who reacted poorly to what she saw was too little kindness being offered far too late. She reaffirmed her oath that she was was no longer an Irlingstar and went into hiding, changing her name to Sarisa Verawyn.

To continue with her new life in Waterdeep, Sarisa reinvented herself as a high-class escort/companion, taking advantage of her social skills/interests and allowing her to continue her previous lifestyle by hanging on the arms of other nobles.

At the same time, agents of the Church of Shar had learned of Sarisa's loss and secret identity. Slowly, they established themselves as friends and confidants of Sarisa. Over three years, they introduced her to Shar and began converting her, convincing/teaching her of Shar's more benign/less obviously evil aspects.[/hide]

Sarisa's "goals" were fairly simple. Get into the Officer's Club, lounge about, and chat people up (success on all three accounts). My goals as player was to basically subtly and gently nudge people towards more evil actions.

Let's move onto the screenshots.

[hide="Sarisa met a tiefling whom she was absolutely fascinated with"]

Sadly, Zyrel disappeared and Sarisa never got in contact with her ever again.[/hide]

[hide="Herostrat"]Herostrat was an absolutely amazing character and I enjoyed every single minute of Sarisa and him interacting. He was the perfect figure that brought Sarisa's subtle ambition to spread evil. The thought of Sarisa being Herostrat's "Lady Macbeth" came to mind quickly.

Oh look! Some juicy rumours about Herostrat

Which Sarisa promptly uses to tease Herostrat

Attempts at seduction and corruption!

Just some lovely chatting

Playing chess!

[hide="Would-be Lord-Mayor Rodryk Sosay"]Sarisa and Sosay didn't interact often. But, hilariously enough, before Sarisa was dragged into the Conclave, he thought she was one of their agents.
[/hide]

[hide="Caerseil"]A truly curious creature with a fascinating history, Sarisa was naturally drawn to Caerseil.

[/hide]

[hide="Rastlin"]
So, RwG played this silly guy named Rastlin or whatever. Fun times.

[hide="In the Conclave!"]
Eventually, Sarisa got caught by the Conclave and had a Nebezzduon collar put on her.

She does her thing to subtly nudge Vilindilieth towards accepting evil.

Being pulled into/joining the Conclave meant doing a lot more adventuring

Meeting the Big Bosses

Sucking up to a certain shadowy creature

Induction!

Chatting it up with Doukakis

Chatting it up with Bennet

Pretty but deadly

Chatting it up with an amusing hostage

Marco seemed like a simple person but I knew he wasnt

Manipulating Kayla

Negotiations with Rodryk. Sarisa genuinely wanted the Soul Archive destroyed, it was, in her opinion, an affront to Shar who wished to see souls obliviated, not merely imprisoned. Thus, the peace negotiations were one of the few things that Sarisa put a real effort into.

[/hide]

[hide="Agneodaniach"]Agneodaniach was a very apparent figure in the Conclave and Sarisa tried to do what she can to get a better grasp ofhim.

[/hide]

[hide="Ashall"]Ah, them Orderfolk
[/hide]

[hide="Rituals of Darkness"]
Sarisa performed a few rituals that centred around snuffing out light to appease Shar.

[/hide]

[hide="Violet..."]Violet was an incedibly fun character to interact with in so many ways. The poor girl followed Sarisa around like a puppy and Sarisa took advantage of that to torture her whenever possible.

Hiding from Violet after an orc invasion to see how she'd react.

Here, Sarisa induces a nightmare to get a better sense of what goes on in Violet's head.

Violet eventually died because of Sarisa. The silly girl walked right into the Conclave when she learned Sarisa was captured.

Giving the poor girl a cruel eulogy.

But then she came back as a ghost!

[/hide]

[hide="Ladies and gentle, Ymph's highest paid mercenary"]
Harriet was simply a blast to interact with.
[/hide]

[hide="Agramant"]A shadowy, mysterious figure on Ymph: who is Agramant? I ain't telling!

Getting to know the man

But here, Sarisa, for the first time ever on Ymph, confesses to another person that she's a worshiper of Shar.

[/hide]

[hide="Colthan, Priest of Ibrandul"][/hide]

[hide="Fleeing the Conclave: Roderick?"]When Sarisa fled the Conclave for reasons I'll let remain a mystery, a fellow named Roderick gave her an interesting proposition.

[/hide]

[hide="Loot"]Sarisa had a lot of powerful sorcerer loot by the end. She only really earned three of them however (seen below). The rest she either bought or were given as gifts.
[/hide]

[hide="Eulogies"]Sarisa was very fond of giving dead people eulogies

[/hide]

[hide="Sarisa preparing her deadman switch"][/hide]

[hide="LOL"][/hide]

[hide="The End"]
Having alienated Mistlocke and the Conclave, Sarisa painted herself into quite the corner. So when it seemed as if her end came, she let it take her.

Gotham

Great screenshots. Called it day 1, but only because of your desc. Great character. sorry we never had a chance to be bestest friends.

Smile

First Violet now Sarisa. Team Mistlocke square is now dead.

Erwin the German

I'm pleased that, in the end, she who was most tortured, managed to bother her the most in death.

Easily one of my favorite EFU characters, despite supplying the most depression for me.

Cannot wait to roll around with the next.

Pool

Subtle seeds of destruction. Clever.

God speed, you psycho woman. o7

Ghosticus

A spectacular character to roleplay with. On both my first character and my next, Sarisa gave EFU a much darker, more sinister and manipulative side in terms of player characters, and made the server a great joy to roleplay on.

In the end, Kaina hated Sarisa for what she did to Violet, and would have killed her to protect her sad, redheaded sorcerer had events gone differently.

Anariel was intrigued by Sarisa, and enjoyed her company. Ultimately, she found Sarisa to be a very curious character, a bird in a gilded cage who wanted to be free, but at the same time whose motivations were completely lost on the firemage.

In death Sarisa is an enigma, a puzzle whose solution will never be found, a curiosity to never be fully explored, a story to fade into the oblivion that waits for us all.

Here, have some screenshots.

One_With_Nature

Sarisa was cool, Zahe certainly seemed to get along with her for the most part and find her amusing.

Look forward to your next

Ebok

I almost got you by fire, seems shadow was a more fitting end >_>

NecroDude

Probably one of my fav PC's of all time since ive arrived :) she was awesome. Made vilin feel so good about all the evil things he did, and her words will continue to lead vilin to feel good about all his animations and murders to come! Sarisa was by far amazing, cant wait to see what your next PC will be like!

Rincewind1

Cool character - shame we didn't get to interact more when I was on Morick :).

AllMYBudgies

While this may sound macabre, I'm glad that she is finally dead. Selfishly, it's allowed me a chance to learn more about a character that constantly fascinated me, left me wondering and intrigued me by simply seeing her name in the player list.

Fantastic characterization and beautifully rendered stories that could only come from you, Caster.

Sponduli

She was neat. A shame there weren't more antics with you being hunted by Aberdenn!

The Boom King

Hehe. I remember first meeting her with Delturai, and how mad she got when he asked if she was Sharran. Fun character, as per usual, Caster!

Voluminous Cloak

Good work, as always, Caster.
