Terrifying Cave: Risk vs Reward

This is a fun quest to do, but the rewards feel really weak. It uses a considerable amount of supply, and until you get to a certain point statwise there's always a chance of instant death.

I was certain that after braving such horrors there would be some awesome loot awaiting us, and what we got was... less so to say the least.

The experience was also less impressive as well, even with some added spawns from HB I managed less than a thousand experience at level 7. The majority of it came from the quest turnin itself. I could get that much doing 'Here There Be Spiders.'

It would at least be nice if you had a decent chance of getting as many supplies as you spend during this.

It is far from the goal for every quest to give you back as much supplies as you put in. But there should be something you get out of it that is worthwhile.

Be it chances at obscure lore notes that speak to server secrets/origins, alchemy/herbalism recipes or hints, large amounts of experience points, single/limited use powerful items and so on.

It sounds like this QA may not reward much in any category compared to much safer, more spammed quests. However, perhaps a single run is not a good test of the loot table?

I've done it several times in recent memory, and it was always lackluster

To be as vague as possible, I know even some of the more 'spammed' quests have infrequent drops that are significantly better than the other stuff that drops, so maybe that's the case here!

TheSpooky

I could also confirm that this cave gives lackluster rewards. Any of the dungeons near Sanctuary are highly likely to give you more loot.

Random_White_Guy

Yeah but street cred.

"Oh I killed a Kobold"

"Gj so did evreyone else"

"I VISITED THE TERRIFYING CAVE"

"...HOLY SHIT DEATH WISH!? WTF!?"

If only saying you completed a quest had any impact at all. The problem with this quest isn't really reward, it's satisfaction.

I am far more satisfied when I beat mist ogres for the first time, regardless of reward, as it required gruelling and heroic combat where players had to use everything or die. The same goes for every other quest around, even seers.

Beholders simply doesn't offer that. I get no buzz from dying to multiple rays, and unlike other quests where you could die instantly you are given rewards to numb this. Again beholders does not offer that.

If you want something that people can use to proudly say they did, reduce the beholders down to two or three and get rid of the boss ( which is more fitting of a quest that allows 2 min). Either that or make it more fun, give some kind of worthy reward. Perhaps a token that can enter you into the heroes club, or some random item from ordinant npcs, or some actual lore whatever that may be.

Tbh in fitting with one of sc's posts rehaul the quest all together. I do not think its fit for efur, if you don't want to bump rewards.

HerDarkMajesties

The tougher the quest, the more substantial the reward should be. That's not to say it should always be supplies though.

There are some bragging rights involved in defeating certain terrifying creatures. Perhaps there could be more to it however.

Sinister Enclave back in EfU:M is a good example of a quest that gave reasons for lots of different kinds of characters to invest supplies into beating it. You had the prospect of nice Netherese gear for loot hounds. A tough array of NPC's for people looking for a challenge. Lots and lots of lore snippets that encouraged scholars to return again and again to learn it all.

With EfU:R being less loot and supply bloated, I can see why this quest doesn't end with piles upon piles of potions and gear. An overhaul of the story/lore aspects of it might be neat though. There's lot of secrets about the Sand Caverns and the history of the creatures within that I'm sure people might be interested to brave this quest for a small chance to learn.

Suggestion was noted, and similar stuff has been in past all the same. Whether we overhaul or do it, depends wholly of when, and if we so decide with a solid plan. Off with the opinion arguments and pointless circling that keeps happening over and over again.

I will make it as simple as it is. No matter how hard you shout, it won't make anything happen any faster.

Knight Of Pentacles

It would seem it recently received an overhaul.  Truly the only thing it needs is some ambient loot that matches the risk.  Other than that this quest is fine.
