Nazzaro the Collared
Race: Human (Chondathan)
Alignment: Neutral Good
Deity: Tchazzar
Class: Fighter (Man-at-Arms)
Max Level: 8
Core Concept: Seeking A Friend for the End of the World.

I had a blast playing Nazzaro and thugging around for everyone. His only major accomplishments were reaching level 8, and donating a thousand gold to the Crone in ten gold increments throughout his lifespan. Although he didn't remember it he was an average farmer from Chondath who moved to Chessenta to become a mercenary and fell involve with the culture. Having no memory of the dire circumstances around the end of the world, or the many bizarre months to follow, Nazzaro thought you all were freaks and lunatics.

Concept, Personality and Shit:
The Underdark and Apocalypse created a strange new world and society, and Nazzaro the Surfacer would sooner die than adapt. He refused to befriend anyone that a typical country-raised farmer wouldn't consider "normal", and refused to associate, discuss his opinions, or small talk with anyone outside these friends. Nazzaro understood coin to be valueless since the collapse of society and performed mercenary work exclusively to both protect survivors and to locate potential friends. Nazzaro would have seen this reasoning as entirely emotional and weak, and masked his true agenda by refusing to accompany anyone without being paid in coins he had no use or desire for. His current master automatically, and magically, was considered a very dear friend to Nazzaro regardless of their whacky agenda, but only so long as they remained his most current owner. Even among friends Nazzaro wished to appear knowledgeable, masculine, and unconcerned so he refused to request aid or ask any questions which weren't related to their current objective. This lead to his complete lack of knowledge about the Underdark.

He spent the first two weeks of gameplay in Lower Sanctuary completely unaware of Upper's existence. Believing the world to have been reduced to a village of a hundred murderers, thugs, and maniacs he remained relatively goalless beyond finding one or two other survivors with old world sensibilities to alleviate his loneliness. Having found no one he turned to slowly drinking himself to death as his few friends among the collared turned into fanatical cultists. Although he would eventually learn of Upper Sanctuary he had little luck in his search, and circumstances led to him spending most of his time in Lower. Nazzaro died before accomplishing his goal; Friendless and unloved.

Nazzaro's Nifty Code of Conduct:  [LIST=1]
  • Monsters Are Monsters: Nazzaro kills monsters, he doesn't work for or with them.
  • Magic isn't for Chondathans: Nazzaro knows nothing about spells or magical items unless directly told by another character, even if the item is already identified.
  • Apathy is the Path for Me: Don't ask questions unless prompted to. Don't seem interested in anything outside of the battlefield. Only accept help if it's offered, and never ask for aid in any facet of life. Nazzaro is not sociable and so doesn't collect rumors or common knowledge so prominent NPC's, factions, and locations are learned of personally or not at all.
  • Mercenary, not Adventurer: Nazzaro doesn't understand or recognize most items recovered during quests and doesn't ask about them. Unless personally given loot, or recognizes something, he doesn't take any. This is a part of why he refuses to join any quest without being offered at least ten gold.
  • Tchazzar the Friendly Dragon: He'd never admit to someone that they're his friend, but he would express the fellowship through action including a reflexive willingness to sacrifice his coins or his life to protect them.
  • Assuran Gets His Due: Nazzaro's only concern are those few surviving normal people he considers friends, and he'd happily die attempting to avenge them.
  • The Last Bar in Toril: Under the impression for several weeks of alcoholism that The Crone was the last bar in existence Nazzaro donates much of his coin to Gran Ubel. Even after his discovery of Upper Sanctuary and turn to sobriety he thinks of The Crone as the closest thing to his home, and is protective of it.
  • Good Guy Gregzzaro: Nazzaro is loyal to his current owner regardless of their alignment but not their cause or allies. When the opportunity arises he'll "protect" his owner from extremely evil or monstrous companions using threats, violence, and murder.
