Newbie UD friendly areas for Rangers/Druids

I don't want to suggest that the Underdark should be nerfed or made more "friendly". But I do see how that Upper has a relatively easy/simple place for low levels to reach level 6, where it becomes a bit easier to navigate the underdark with more powers available. However, after exploring the UD a bit with my Ranger I can only imagine how difficult it must be for Druidic or non-city dwelling PCs to survive and even level up, as most of them tend to be playing alone, I could imagine how intimidating it could be at level 2 or 3, trying to survive and barely thriving as a Druid or a ranger who strictly avoids Sanctuary aside from minor trade (rothe meat/fish/supplies).

I'm not sure what to suggest in specific; I don't think Druids/Rangers should get a "worm cave" in the UD to turn into some generic Duergar or something silly. Maybe smaller quests available to 1/2 man groups who are Druids (Or even Rangers), or maybe an NPC who will buy Herbs from foragers for an exchange of XP/Gold to a certain level. I admit, I don't know much about how herbs work as far as growing/foraging goes, so that might make things too easy.

Any thoughts?

Some of the things you suggest are already in place, and while playing a fairly isolationist character such as a Druid poses unique challenges that are not found within Sanctuary's limits, these elements are some of the more cherished aspects of playing a Wilderness character.

In the current chapter, many of the aspects of playing a Druid are catered for beautifully, observant and keen Druids will find lots to do, and will not struggle as you might imagine.

The DM team has already done a lot to aid characters with purely natural leanings, especially druids. Both druids and rangers are also very powerfully independent classes with a wide aray of survival abilities. Rangers and those outside the Stewards admittedly have it a bit worse off, but things aren't too bad. EFU is very much about creating relationships and roleplaying opportunities, and nature-based characters are no different.

Venturing the Underdark alone is significantly more dangerous than it is to quickly ding level 6 with the myriad of quest trains roaming around Sanctuary, but there's also a great sense of satisfaction in immersing yourself in a nature character until you reach that same level of prowess as all those quest-hopping city dwellers. It's doable, and even fun.

If you or anyone else is having issues, feel free to join #treehuggers on IRC. However intimidating any nature character is, I can assure you that most (if not all) of us are more than eager to help in and out of game. There's a lot of cool stuff to explore as a treehugger (shroomclinger?) in the Underdark, and I'd definitely encourage you to stick it out a bit more.

I'm playing a mostly wilderness cleric and finding a lot out there. It's even possible without being able to stealth and being reliant on oil, though the oil need does force a link to Sanctuary for supply. If you're having trouble any of the wilderness oriented PCs would probably have no problem showing yours the ropes. There is a whole lot out there for us if you look for it.

What would be a nice way to help out wildernessy people is if there was something that only worked if your spawn point was not in Sanctuary or Lower, but is pretty far out. Keeps urban rangers and stuff from exploiting it like people did the Cave of Scars.

Well, then maybe I'll just suggest some solo ranger friendly quests in the UD, or perhaps 2 man quests for Druids/Rangers, etc.
