this quest is a bit to hard for a 2-5. I would advise adding some gold piles as well. Doesn't make much sense that the victim's gold isn't piled away somewhere when this was clearly a gold making scheme.

Maybe upping it to 2-6, add some gold piles to guarantee some sort of consistent reward, would be in order.

Moonlighter

I did this quest with Blessed here, and.. yes, it was rather hard!

I don't claim to be an expert NWN player by any means, but...

I was level appropriate and still getting absolutely murdered. I know I'm a rogue and I know that happens, but I literally couldn't hit or hurt half the stuff.

Loot wasn't anything noteworthy or fantastic either after all the effort of completing it.

MaimedGod

I was with them too. As a paladin, I had a similar experience. I was crit'd for 30 damage, instakill, by a bandit soldier - a grunt. Probably a little too harsh.

Critical hits has always been a part of EFU. And hopefully will still be a part of it. We all fondly remember being dubble critted for 100+ damage.

Ook

I always thought it was pretty inconsistent with all the other level 5 quests. It would make much more sense as a level 6.

Canzah

As I recall this used to be capped at 6 and the lowered range never made much sense to me.

I know some quests are meant to be more challanging than others, but I have done this several times as a lvl 6 and it certainly isn't easy.

That doesn't detract from the overall point - the room you have to clear is literally filled with the guys who do that. They also sneak-attack. For a party of levels 2-5 this quest is very dangerous with rewards that aren't that fantastic... probably my least favorite thing is you spend the first part of the quest fighting rats who pose barely any threat and then you walk into the bandit lair and they are suddenly, out of nowhere, brutally hard. One or the other (the danger level or the reward level) ought to be changed if the quest is to be fair, but that's just my opinion! Maybe really hard quests with minimal reward are the norm here, I honestly have no idea.

Zango_Unchained

This used to be a max seven a while back, got turned to six and then to five. I've not noticed a real change between any of the level drops in difficulty.

putrid_plum

I only ever did this quest one time.  Our group nearly was TPK 2-3 times.  The reward was not very good at all and in no way was even close to what we used just to live.  Granted, as I said I only did this quest once.  That being said after my experience I was never in a hurry to try it again.

Raising the level up would be a step in the right direction.

efuincarnate

I did this back when it was 2-6..TPK, TPK, and then TPK.  A DM even intervened with an NPC to aid us and..TPKd.  It should be toned down, or the level cap raised to 7 again.

SN

9lives will get on it.

Ladocicea

I agree with this. I've only done it once so I don't have a huge amount of experience with it but as far as I can tell it's not only way, way harder than any other quest in that level range but the payoff is poorer too.

Jasede

I've done it once and done pretty well but that was /only/ because I was playing a buffed powerbuild, and even then it was hilariously close and anyone playing vulnerable classes just got murdered.

We like hard quests, but in this case the reward just doesn't match the risk; maybe less bandits, eh?
