More Ringrun Shortcuts back to 99

As the title suggests, I don't know how desirable it is. But it feels like you can't really get involved with things in the 99 while ringrunning because it takes so long for you to get back (30-40 mins sometimes maybe longer). I don't think there should necessarily be shortcuts back into the deeper rings, but getting back would be nice to have some more options.

Black Cart Wagons seem like they were scattered all over the place with this in mind.

Maybe they could have some one-way functionality.

Dredi

From what I understand this used to be the case - and there was a number of means to travel in/out of the rings in earlier days but it was decided that this was indeed not desirable.

Clearly it IS desirable, for multiple reasons.

If you decide to run suffer the side effects or stay in the base server imo, I don't think every PC should be a ring runner and that's what short cuts will do.

I think shortcuts would be convenient but I think putrid_plum's concern is very real and legitimate. I think it'd suck if every PC, every faction, every group just kind of Ringran as a hobby and then just shortcuts their way back to 99 for questing time.  Besides, as far as I can tell, some shortcuts do exist.

I agree that ringrunning should be a serious commitment and not something undertaken flippantly or casually. But this misses the point that ringrunning is hard and oftentimes a mechanically unrewarding drain on supplies. I spent a few weeks trying to put a ringrunning crew together. "Casual" ringrunning looks like a bunch of people completing 92 over and over again with no real sense of direction.

By my understanding, ringrunning was created to help keep players engaged during lulls in DM and player activity. This is a pretty substantial lull. If a player wants to ringrun while also engaging with conflict back in 99 and risk losing their ringrunning progress to PvP created from those conflicts, why not let them?

As it stands, the current state of things isn't even preventing people from doing this - it's just making it an inconvenience. Players run back and forth between 99 and Ba'zeel every reset. What is the harm and making this easier and less time consuming? It sucks to invest 15-20 minutes to run back to Peerage in the hopes of interacting with the other ten people who might be online during your timezone.

I'm not saying that these shortcuts should be a permanent thing, but for the current state of the server, they'd be useful to help keep up activity and encourage people to actually interact with one another rather than OOCly organizing their ringrunning time and not doing anything else otherwise.

I wholeheartedly agree Pendip - The difficulty I found with ringrunning was simply availability times. When your group can only get together on the 3rd saturday of each month and only from 10pm onwards the arguement that ringrunners should just stay out in the rings and RP there is kinda crappy, a choice between "Never get to interact with people or do anything" or "Stop running" - and this is something I've seen demonised both by players and DM's, the ideas that ringrunners shouldn't be coming back to 99.

If you were to return shortcuts I'd say have them spawn as a low% Chance explorables so that maybe on a given day you can save some time, or if a DM specifically wants to spawn it for you. Maybe tie this into some sorta puzzle or something that has to be "Earnt".

Though it should be clear Pandip, that the run to and from some of the deeper rings is much closer to a full hour,  not 15-20 minutes.

I think it shouldn't be a binary choice here. You shouldn't have to sacrifice participation in RP/conflict/etc. in 99 in order to experience the puzzles/challenges/bosses in content in the Rings.

People should be able to do both.
