Not sure if this is doable or wanted, but I had a thought pop into my head inspired by my love for the Souls games and their take on RPG systems, such as dexterity reducing fall damage. This is what I came up with, that every stat had some sort of sensible buff/debuff to spice up character creation and not make every combat viable build just about who does the most damage or something like that. Utility is the game! The druid shapeshift example could be used for odd stats.

STR - No changes, as it already has something else attached to it (Weight, 1.5x for two-handed weapons)

DEX - Movement speed (I know it also affects initiative)

8 DEX  would net -5% movement speed, 6 and under -10% movement speed, remove the movement speed penalty from leg removal, instead net -2 dexterity
10 DEX would change nothing
11 DEX would give +5% movement speed
13 DEX would give +8% movement speed
15 DEX would give +11% movement speed
18 DEX would give +14% movement speed

CON - Damage immunity

8 CON would net -5% damage immunity
10 CON no change
11 CON would give +5% damage immunity
13 CON would give +8% damage immunity
15 CON would give +11% damage immunity
18 CON would give +14% damage immunity

WIS - Spell Resistance

6 WIS would net -14 spell resistance
8 WIS would net -10 spell resistance
10 WIS no change
12 WIS would give 5 spell resistance
14 WIS would give 10 spell resistance
16 WIS would give 12 spell resistance
18 WIS would give 14 spell resistance

INT - Nothing, INT based builds already have lots of changes related to schools

CHA - Fear Saves

6 CHA would net -4 fear saves
8 CHA would net -2 fear saves
10 CHA no change
11 CHA would give +1 fear saves
13 CHA would give +2 fear saves
15 CHA would give +3 fear saves
18 CHA would give +4 fear saves

If this was implemented, certain meta items could be phased out and certain builds would be less item dependent and more various in what stats are chosen for what, by no means meant to be game changing but I especially like the dexterity thing where it affects movement speed. Go ahead and tell me I'm crazy, just a thought! But maybe too much work.
How long, Catiline, will you continue to abuse our patience?

I think there might be some merit to this but the proposed numbers and types of bonuses are a bit over the top for what would make sense.

Perhaps something based on what class you are would be better too.
