Dearest Officer Wedelia Peony Holiday,

I hope this letter finds you well in earnest. It has been some time since we have last ventured together and my thoughts have dwelt upon you from time to time, knowing how similar our paths are. I am sincere when I say that I hope you and your family continue on in this harsh world.

That lost hat knit by my dear late wife still eludes me, and with it, a piece of myself feels gone as well. Perhaps the reason my own daughter is missing is that she has gone looking for my hat. That would make me a proud father, knowing her priorities lie on the straight and narrow path.

The spell notes I have gathered, while still only mirroring a fraction of what I lost on my journey here, have proved adequate to make it in this desert town. Our moment of shared learning together was stupendous.

The people I have had to deal with vary greatly in terms of both character and agenda, but we do what we must to make sure that the seeds of tomorrow remain both fed and watered.

Your friend,
D.W.

My Dearest Officer Wedelia Peony Holiday,

It fills my heart with joy knowing you received my last letter. It has been some time since I wrote, and I feared that my words did not make their way to you. I fear your response letter was lost, somehow.

The searches for my hat and daughter yet continue. But for each surveyed caravan, an emptiness I have not known until now seems to grows deeper and deeper. I feel it in my bones, and even in my magic. Maybe you understand, my friend.

A void. A nothingness.

Perhaps it is the uncertainty that is getting to me, or perhaps there are truths I cannot comprehend or am too afraid to face.

If I cannot find that hat, then what reason do I even have to keep going on?

Also, I seek a scroll of Shelgarn's Persistent Blade if you have seen one.

Faithfully yours,
D.W.
