The NPC says something along the lines of "I see you have suffered the same faith as me."  Fate might be a better choice here.

When you turn in your tokens, the NPC grabs them all and rewards you experience but offers you a choice of items.  If you exit out of this (to gather more to save up for a better reward, or by accident) your tokens are gone and you get no items.  Retard-proofing it by having the tokens taken as the item selections are made would be awesome.
